I find it a hassle to switch from one account to another to edit a post, edit a project, etc. It's especially annoying when I'm signed in on one account, but I'm working on a project on another account, and all of my progress isn't saved when I close the project without realizing I was signed in on another account. I'm sure you've experienced something similar on Scratch.

I'm proposing an alternate accounts system to help fix this.
Through your Account Settings, you can link your alternate account to your main account, enabling you to edit your secondary account's forum posts, projects, and perform other actions you'd normally be able to do only on your primary account.

In order to link two accounts, you'd need to enter the password of the second account and confirm your password for the account you're currently on. Once that's done, you have to then confirm linking the accounts by logging on to the second account and clicking a Confirm link in Messages.

Revisions:
- An linked alt can only edit the shared projects and visible studios of the original, and vice versa

Semi-Support with #5 and #6, it’s annoying to have to put in a password to switch between accounts, and it takes a while, but it doesn’t really feel needed, just more convenient

A workaround is to change your settings so you just need to put in your password you use to open your device and click where the password is, but in scratch would still be better

To be honest, I believe this system could lead to a lot of problems. Someone could send an “alternate account request”, and the user could accidentally hit “Confirm”, or hit it without knowing what it does, and the original user could then get that user banned.

It would be password protected we have to enter both accounts password

You can get a permanent ban for using an alt to evade a ban, though.

I think when you would link an alt account (in addition to having to enter the alt account's password), it should send a confirmation email (like the one you get when you first sign up for an account).
It probably would look like this:

Confirmation required for linking alternate account.

Hi, alt username.

username has requested that you link your Scratch account with theirs.

If this was you, accept the request to link your alt account so you can easily switch between the two.

If this wasn't you, change you password immediately: you've been hacked!

It wouldn't.
It would simply add a button which easily lets you switch between accounts seamlessly.

Makes sense. I also think that any linked alts should be displayed automatically on both profile pages.

Support, then switching between accounts would be easier.

I think to link both accounts, both should have to use the same email address.

That way, private messaging wouldn't happen.
