Scratch Movie: Quest for Bugs
Can I add a reference to your movie in my movie? We could have multiple songs in Credits, like actual movies. Can anyone give the link to this theme?bit offtopic, but…I think they have a song named credits already but I'm not too sure. This is a
We should use the song Home by LCD Soundsystem for the credits. It's the same song that the Scratch Saga used for its ending, and I think it would be a nice reference.

I am currently updating mali3000's storyboard to better fit our new script. There are many similarities, but the storyboard and script must match up with each other.
If any of you could add it (and my user) to the studio, that would be great.

Again, we should be careful with our references. We should make the Scratch Movie something actually high-quality and geniune-hearted so it actually sticks with people and doesn't get immediately forgotten. refrence this it's funny

We can't just insert random memes “because it's funny”. Referencing memes is a surefire way to make sure that this movie ages like milk- which is to say, horribly.
A lot of people are treating the Scratch Movie as just… well, a meme, I guess. It's always “reference this” or “reference that”, which I'm usually fine with but it's happening so much that it's kind of getting out of hand. If we're going to reference things, make sure they're well-integrated into the story and actually relate to Scratch.
The Scratch Movie should be more than just a big meme or a big reference to Scratch- it should be more than that.

Again, I ~snip~really don't think we should focus on references. It would be fine if it's referencing something from Scratch and/or it integrated well into the story. Don't think about references, though- I've watched Bluey since 2020 and love the show, but I just don't think a reference to the show fits this movie.
If you know the show you’re cool
I also think that references can be fine if they're really subtle- maybe something that can be seen or heard in the background?
We should also focus on telling an impactful story- but that'll be kind of hard. I think it would be great if the story had a moral or emotional moments. Sure, I guess the whole thing is just a Scratch Movie, but a lot of you would benefit from realizing that all of us basically have a golden opportunity at our hands.
We can make something that will genuinely resonate with the Scratch community and beyond. The Scratch Movie could genuinely be amazing if we push past the temptations of references that will eventually become dated and focus on making an impactful story that will age well through the years.
Just look at the Scratch Saga- it was made in 2.0, but still holds up extremely well. It doesn't abuse memes for its humor and actually tries to be funny.
And by the way, I'm not complaining about how the script is so far- I think it's great!- I'm mainly talking about the people who want references for really random, non-Scratch related things.

Adding on to this, aside from the fact the video wasn't even funny, we shouldn't be trying to cram random memes from everywhere into a massive amalgamation of low quality memes or niche references, a few is okay. Scratch Movie: Quest for Bugs
I’ve said this multiple times. The show is not going to be a huge bundle of references to everything on Earth. We can’t just be like, “What if we add a reference to that one specific star shown in one frame of the sequel to the prequel of that one movie made in 1897?” These are getting less and less recognizable by the second. The Griffy cereal was one thing, since almost everyone knows Griffpatch. It’s also ON THE PLATFORM, so more people will have seen it. But referencing a random YouTube short that isn’t even related to Scratch? It doesn’t make sense. It’s not on the platform, it’s not something everyone has seen, it’s not related to the movie in any way, etc.Adding on to this, aside from the fact the video wasn't even funny, we shouldn't be trying to cram random memes from everywhere into a massive amalgamation of low quality memes or niche references, a few is okay. Scratch Movie: Quest for Bugs
Honestly, we need to do well with making this movie. ~snip~
Making a Scratch Movie is a pretty big deal. Sure, it’s unofficial, but it’ll be recognized by Scratchers across the globe as the definitive Scratch movie. Some of you don’t really understand the kind of responsibility that we all have here- this movie is literally a reflection of Scratch, its community, and the amazing things people have created (the latter will probably only be shown to a pretty small degree, but whatever).
I do feel like I’m repeating myself a lot and not actually doing anything about what I’m saying, though, so I’ll try to work on the updated storyboard for now.
It would just really be a shame to see the movie just crumble into a pile of mindless references that barely create a story. Also, I would suggest not suggesting references for the movie unless they could fit well into the story AND the reference is related to Scratch. And even then, don’t reference abuse. Too much of anything is never a good thing.
