Hello. I would love if Scratch had a simple music maker.
I'm not talking about the music extension, where you need this

(Mockup by jmdzti_0-0)
Why is this necessary?
Scratch already had a paint editor. I think music is just as important as art in games.
Isn't music too hard?
So is art. You can't get better at something without practice. There aren't many music editors on the internet that are just for fun. Scratch would be a great place to learn.
How many people would use this?
I know that I would. Hopefully other people will too.
I'm not talking about the music extension, where you need this
repeat (2)for 7.5 seconds of music. I'm talking about an editor, like this:
play note (60) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (57) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (62) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (57) for (0.5) beats :: pen
end
play note (64) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (60) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (67) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (60) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (64) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (60) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (67) for (0.5) beats :: pen
play note (64) for (0.5) beats :: pen

Great idea, but the paint editor is not used much. Also, most suggestions never make it to Scratch.

What makes you think that? Great idea, but the paint editor is not used much.
That's no reason not to suggest them. Also, most suggestions never make it to Scratch. This post explains why it's rarely worth it for the Scratch Team to bother.

I'm not exactly sure what it would look like. Anything like Chrome Music Lab but with more instruments would do. The post is too broad. How will it work?

Could the project have something, maybe in the area where it shows the extensions used in the project or somewhere else “This project contains music” for people like me who can’t listen to music for religious (or other) reasons?

Anyone can already put music in projects. This just makes it a bit easier. Could the project have something, maybe in the area where it shows the extensions used in the project or somewhere else “This project contains music” for people like me who can’t listen to music for religious (or other) reasons?

That looks awesome. I'm going to add the mockup to the original post if you don't mind. A collab with beepbox.co would be nice
I can't really put it any better than that. Wouldn't this problem already exist, right now, because projects can already contain music? I've uploaded my own music to the website before, and being able to do that directly from the website would only make it easier.Anyone can already put music in projects. yes but this would make the process of simply browsing scratch a tad bit easier for some muslims like myself - it isn't even that hard to add probably. i also made a suggestion to encourage music warnings but that got closed.I can't really put it any better than that. Okay, but that doesn't have anything to do with this suggestion, since the problem already exists without it. yes but this would make the process of simply browsing scratch a tad bit easier for some muslims like myself - it isn't even that hard to add probably. i also made a suggestion to encourage music warnings but that got closed.
Let's get back on topic.

yes, but it's a side feature that would be a good and thoughtful edition to this suggestion.Okay, but that doesn't have anything to do with this suggestion, since the problem already exists without it. yes but this would make the process of simply browsing scratch a tad bit easier for some muslims like myself - it isn't even that hard to add probably. i also made a suggestion to encourage music warnings but that got closed.

also, this suggestion could make music even more apparent in scratch (which is why i'm not gonna support this suggestion) so music warnings for these would be good if it was added.

It's harder to make than you think (for example, differentiating between random bird noises and music.) If you feel you shouldn't listen to music for any reason, you should probably disable audio completely.yes but this would make the process of simply browsing scratch a tad bit easier for some muslims like myself - it isn't even that hard to add probably. i also made a suggestion to encourage music warnings but that got closed.I can't really put it any better than that. I would think it would have the same features as the music blocks. This would make making music much easier as it takes a lot of code to make anything complex with those.
Even if this was added, I'd probably stick to using GarageBand.

no i dont mean a music detector in that way- it would add the warning to projects that use the music editor. no ai detecting needing, it just sees if the music editor is used. It's harder to make than you think (for example, differentiating between random bird noises and music.) also no, disabling audio 24/7 isnt a spot on workaround what if the project could have no music but sfx but u cant find out without, well, finding out. and a music warning would eliminate the need to try for that project. dont say “ok u chose that lifestyle ur problem” or something, it's my religion. why would i just do it if i know it's against my faith, and it'd be nice if scratch added this simple side feature to be considerate for their muslim audience.

Alright, I see, and maybe it would be a good feature to add. However, I think it should be something like the warning for the music extension is right now, rather than a more warning-ier warning (because someone might false report thinking the music is inappropriate.)no i dont mean a music detector in that way- it would add the warning to projects that use the music editor. no ai detecting needing, it just sees if the music editor is used. It's harder to make than you think (for example, differentiating between random bird noises and music.) so we gonna steal the entire beepbox.co interface? wow /sarc
firstly, no. we don’t need a program to make music by hand. just because we have the paint editor doesn’t mean we need a music editor. heck, get your own app to edit.
scratch isn’t a website to learn how to make music, it’s a coding website, for god’s sake. they don’t teach you how to draw on scratch (except the pen extension) do they?
just because you know you’ll use it doesn’t mean that others would. removing everything you can do to cut music to make it fade and force people to use a stolen interface trying to create music from scratch (pun not intended)???
use your own software to make music, like how people use art programs. you just gonna remove the fun stuff like robot filter and tell kids “nuh uh make ur own music because i can!!!!11!1!”?

Most of them cost money, and Audacity is for visual firstly, no. we don’t need a program to make music by hand. just because we have the paint editor doesn’t mean we need a music editor. heck, get your own app to edit.editing, not creating.
Nope, so that’s why no tutorials on music should be added. scratch isn’t a website to learn how to make music, it’s a coding website, for god’s sake. they don’t teach you how to draw on scratch (except the pen extension) do they?

We’re not planning on removing the Sound editor, nor its features. We’re just planning on making a built-in music maker, but the visual editor will still be there. I’ts just the pop-up that’ll show when you click «make a new sound». Sorry if there could be possible misunderstandings on the mockup. use your own software to make music, like how people use art programs. you just gonna remove the fun stuff like robot filter and tell kids “nuh uh make ur own music because i can!!!!11!1!”?

If you think you can make a better mockup, go ahead. But don't complain if you couldn't do better yourself. so we gonna steal the entire beepbox.co interface? wow
I've been spending a lot of time looking for one. If you can recommend one for me to use, that is both free and easy to use, I would really appreciate it. we don’t need a program to make music by hand. just because we have the paint editor doesn’t mean we need a music editor. heck, get your own app to edit.
Then Scratch should remove the paint editor, because apparently, “IT'S A CODING WEBSITE, FOR GOODNESS SAKE” scratch isn’t a website to learn how to make music, it’s a coding website. they don’t teach you how to draw on scratch (except the pen extension) do they?
you know you’ll use it doesn’t mean that others would.Speak for yourself. Just because just because you won't use it doesn't mean nobody will.
I would appreciate if you rephrased this, because it might as well be in a different language to me. removing everything you can do to cut music to make it fade and force people to use a stolen interface trying to create music from scratch (pun not intended)???
First of all, what on earth made you think the Scratch team would remove the special effects? use your own software to make music, like how people use art programs. you just gonna remove the fun stuff like robot filter and tell kids “nuh uh make ur own music because i can!!!!11!1!”?
And second of all, why would the Scratch Team say "nuh uh make ur own music because i can!!!!11!1!”?

Maybe it could say in the same area where extensions are shown
“Music editor used” or “This project contains music”
