I think that this should be integrated into the music extension.

You mean like this?
play song [my song v] :: pen
How about the drop down menu include an option to make another song?

this would solve this

starlightsparker wrote:

Could the project have something, maybe in the area where it shows the extensions used in the project or somewhere else “This project contains music” for people like me who can’t listen to music for religious (or other) reasons?
too cause scratch shows what extensions are used

That would work.

That would work.
I would still prefer to be able to do it directly from the sound editor. It seems neater than doing from inside the code. Not to mention, the music extension isn't affected by the pitch or pan sound effects.

Most of them cost money, and Audacity is for visual editing, not creating.
Because they’re professional and not just for some kids who wanted to make a beat for some game.

Nope, so that’s why no tutorials on music should be added.
So why leave out teaching kids how to draw? And do everything that’s not coding on this site?

If it helps people, no matter how little amount, it’s a good idea.
How are you sure it’ll help people? A feature with only 1 or 2 people who uses it sounds like a waste of money and time

We’re not planning on removing the Sound editor, nor its features. We’re just planning on making a built-in music maker, but the visual editor will still be there. I’ts just the pop-up that’ll show when you click «make a new sound». Sorry if there could be possible misunderstandings on the mockup.
The mockup isn’t very clear, how will people access the normal editor and the music maker?

Uh, yeah… that's kind of the point I'm trying to make here.

I can't tell if you're saying
  • There should be art tutorials, or
  • There should not be a paint editor.
Art is important for games. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean nobody does.

I totally agree. Thankfully, this isn't one of those features.

The normal editor appears by default. The music editor appears when the user clicks “make new song.”
Even though it's not in the mockup, I imagine the song editor would have an “X” button, and a save button.

Great idea, but the paint editor is not used much.
I know that this is like the second post but I use both the paint and sound editors every single day and they are an integral part of scratch. I like making original sprites and stuff.

I support but I think it should match the 3.0 interface and not just be beepbox embed

I agree, but nobody's offered a better mock-up.

Wouldn't that work the same as the
play sound [ v] until done
and
play sound [ v]
blocks?

Maybe there could be a button you can click to change between the different editors.

Or there could be a fourth tab in the project editor titled “music,” and a block
play song [my song v] :: sound

How do I say support and no support at the same time

Here are some of the pros and cons:

Pros

This can be useful for people who want to make their own sounds or music, instead of importing it from another song creator.

People do not have to use an existing sound to create their own song. The song editor will be for fresh, new sounds.

Cons

This could be confusing for new users, as the main goal for Scratch is for the site to be kid friendly, meaning nothing too complex. That is the reason 3D Scratch is rejected.

Scratch could have a question mark icon that, when clicked, gives a explanation of how the music editor works
