No, I don’t think the Oscars are that dumb. It’s definitely going to be the Brutalist.
Crash (2004)
Green Book (2018)
People started talking smack about those movies YEARS after they came out. With Emilia Perez it ALREADY has mixed reviews. It's not gonna win Hex.

The problem with Emilia Perez is it winning Best International Feature over I'm Still Here.
The dislike of crash and green book was current to when they won though.

Not really. I remember being like at an event back in 2019 and they watched Green Book (also can someone tell me what's wrong with Green Book please? I can't figure it out, it's been a long time since I “watched it”)

Not sure about Crash, but on Wikipedia in the critical response section it has a “retrospective” part so

That's not really what we're talking about though. People despise it now

This is all from the initial response section:
“The film's plot elements, such as the means through which all the characters are connected, were derided by critics as contrived and unconvincing.”
“Another criticism centered on the storytelling as didactic and heavy-handed.”
“Much criticism focused on how the film presents racism and its origins, with many noting its depiction of race relations as too simplistic and tidy. The redemption arcs of the white characters, particularly Sergeant Ryan, drew controversy for their execution. Many opined that Ryan's redemption by way of his heroic rescue of Christine felt unearned. Others pointed out the implausibility of Jean Cabot softening her racist attitudes because of an ankle sprain and the care of her Latina housemaid. Clarisse Loughrey of the Independent wrote, ”By presenting racism as nothing more than a personality issue in need of a fix, Crash absolves its white audience of any sense of collective responsibility.“ ”

It was still on several top 10 lists and stuff. It got “lukewarm” reviews. NOW people hate it even more

The point is that Emilia Perez winning is likely because like Crash and Green Book it “discusses” social issues. Which the academy loves

I don't know why you and Hex are saying Emilia Perez is gonna win. The Golden Globes aren't nearly as prestigious as the Oscars are. They're going to pick something more critically acclaimed. The Brutalist, Conclave, or Wicked are gonna win.

Wicked is not going to win, that movie is good at everything except for… looking good.

The last two Oscars were to good. Something bad is going to happen this year, I feel it.

We had two 5 star BP winners in a row, there cannot be light without darkness.

Just Will Smith b*-slapping Chris Rock made that one really good.

Crash (2004)
Green Book (2018)
What's wrong with Green Book?

Watch the Golden Globes speech for when it won Best Drama and I think you’ll understand it was a passion project as well.
I already watched the speech AU. I don't mean that they didn't put passion into it, I mean that the “passion” behind the movie was to win an Oscar.
From what I’ve heard, Green Book simplifies racism in the ‘60s and the ending is pretty much “racism is solved”. I don’t think it’s terribly intelligent or in depth.

CODA looks really good though. Also Dune Part 1 wasn't really Best Picture material. The big surprise of that year was Power of the Dog taking virtually nothing home.

Honestly, I wasn’t impressed with West Side Story. Same thing with Dune Part One. Competently made movies, just wasn’t taken with them.

I never said it was bad.
