No support. If the website changes to scratch.fun (probably) every school district won’t trust the website anymore and stop using it for education (what Scratch is mainly used for).

Nah, Scratch is for educational purposes, so .edu is the one that fits most.
And .fun has a big chance it will be blocked in school, like older posts said.
Scratch.fun is also taken, looks like a scratch card website

just because one website using it is safe doesn't mean every website using it is safe

your logic here is “just because one person is kind that doesn't mean every person is kind”
While that is true, not every person is kind,
that doesn't mean by default, people are usually rude.

Just like domains, “fun” is simply a TLD, and while it might have a few more scam websites because the domain is usually cheaper for the first year, it doesn't mean anything over 30% of all websites using it are unsafe.

MIT owns Scratch, and Scratch is for education.

https://scratch.fun is taken

https://scratch.pizza and https://scratch.love redirects to https://scratch-mit-edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org

maybe something else….

because .fun is a fun domain name

and on purple website starting with H it's only 0.99 euros for the first year

Scratch is run by MIT, or the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, a prestigious university, that already owns the mit.edu domain. It wouldn’t make sense to change the domain name, and it may sound like a scam. (How many legit websites use .fun?)

Edit: I know I literally just repeated what y’all have been saying already. But here you go in one post.

I am not even going to question why scratch.pizza redirects to scratch.mit.edu

Generally, schools use Scratch for educational purposes, and if ST were to rename the site’s url, many schools would no longer trust the site and block it. It would also raise legal issues as well.
No support. Scratch is for education.
legal issues…such as?

You do some research. Both meanings are correct. You can't also register a .edu site if you aren't an educational institution.

MIT stands for Massachussetts Institute of Technology, a prestigious school that would laugh in your face if you asked them to change their website to mit.fun.

Remember, if you change Scratch's website, you'd also have to change MIT's website.

Isn't this a full rejected suggestion since the website already exists.

most schools block .fun domain names so .edu is pretty much the only option
