Make an announcement on gun rules
Except most of the gun projects don't even have code in them, they are just a picture. And there is warnings at the beginning of a lot of them telling that they don't support violence, and if you have a problem with guns, to leave immediately. This is already implemented, is it not?Help keep the site friendly.
It’s important to keep your creations and conversations friendly and appropriate for all ages. If you think something on Scratch is mean, insulting, too violent, or otherwise disruptive to the community, click “Report” to let us know about it. Please use the “Report” button rather than engaging in fights, spreading rumors about other people’s behavior, or otherwise responding to any inappropriate content. The Scratch Team will look at your report and take the appropriate action.

Warnings don't change how the ST reviews a project. They will take it down despite a warning. And there is warnings at the beginning of a lot of them telling that they don't support violence, and if you have a problem with guns, to leave immediately.
This post explains it better.

Bump.
Even though this was made on my alt account, this is still a serious suggestion.

Water guns are realistic as they are used jn a festival. Also are diwali guns allowed please confirm for both cartoon and non cartoon as I am wanting i make a project about diwali so I will be using those. They look somewhat realisticWell, a revolver does look like a real gun, so I'm willing to believe that revolvers are subject to the same rules as modern guns. It's comparing apples to apples at this point. Also, do you think old types from like the 17th century would be allowed? Revolvers are shaped a bit differently than the modern handgun (those actually do scare me), plus they're historical. (If not, it's fine.)
By now, I'm under the impression that the rule is “No realistic guns are allowed on the Scratch website.” This seems relatively unambiguous to me, and I don't know of any exceptions, other than the fact that the uses of water guns, laser guns, are allowed — but those aren't “realistic” guns anyway.

Or paintball gunreally innapropriate, but there should be rules on how they should be shown. The rules have already been set in stone but they're not clear, my suggestion is to make the rules clearer. Well, I don't see including guns in projects as
Like, they shouldn't be shooting off and getting things gory, but it's a bit extreme if you report projects that have idle guns in them. While guns are violent, it really depends on what they're being used for, a prop is fine, if you got a project with a gang using them and going on a killing spree.
…..*Inhale* NO! That is NOT okay!! Keep them idle!
I mean… Kids should know they exist, but they should know right and wrong about them as well. To not have knowledge of them is far more dangerous than knowing about them.
Some kids have complained that users have used guns in ways that bring back traumatizing memories, and they're just taken lightly, so basically no guns are allowed on Scratch unless it's like a laser gun!
But I'm not suggesting to change the rules, I'm suggesting to make the current rules more clearer.

(#49)That's not really relevant to the suggestion - these rules already exist, we would just make them more visible.

I personally like this suggestion; gun rules are very important to know about, especially since we can't always answer them perfectly in QaS, it would be nice to have something to reference.

support.
I literally didn't know scratch had rules against guns until once I saw a forum post which involved someone asking a question about if guns are allowed lol
this does not infringe your rights to the 2nd amendment, as it only disallows you to show pictures of guns on a programming website, you are still allowed to own a gun depending on the laws of the state you live in.

Bump
I would like to ask users to stop responding to the Second Amendment joke. It’s really diverting the topic, you know, so now a bunch of users keep repeating each other saying that it doesn’t infringe their rights, or simply just say that it’s a funny post. Let’s all move on and focus on the suggestion.

He's responding to a joke someone made that people are repeating constantly, derailing the entire conversation by telling them to get back on topic. He's asking for the people to get back onto the original topic. Then why make this topic in the first place? I would like to ask users to stop responding to the Second Amendment joke. (@Sliverus is my alt account, but I’m replying on my main account.) Then why make this topic in the first place?
Because it would be important for all users to know these rules. Gun violence is in projects constantly. I have an irl friend who keeps making gun projects because there isn’t a clear place where they’re said to be disallowed. Many people don’t know these things. In fact, some of the users in this thread didn’t even know this was a rule until they got into the thread, it would be very beneficial for them to know this.

In other words, what in the world are you talking about? The topic doesn't say anything about the Second Amendment. Should I never make any suggestions because someone could bring up among us and that's off topic?
