Don't recycle usernames after a username change
I don’t support this.
The reason why is that I believe there’s a better solution. My solution would be to give every Scratch account a random group of letters and numbers/UUID that stays the same even if your username gets changed and doesn’t get reused if the account gets deleted. That way, every website using Scratch accounts as a form of authentication can just use your UUID instead of struggling with username changes.

There's already a unique user ID in the Scratch API. However, not everyone uses (or even knows to use) this in addition to the username. I don’t support this.

Hmm…maybe… Support! Recycled usernames should not be allowed at all. This could prevent hacking, spam, or deceive nets from the former owner.

That already exists. It's called a user ID and can be seen by searching your username at I don’t support this.scratchstats.com. My user ID is 65550396

Yes (the ninja'd thing usually happens in the middle of someone writing the post but you didn't start writing it about two weeks ago, did you?), but recently, someone who set their account country to Chile took my old username (the account is deleted now), which caused the profile picture on my blocked Scratch Wiki account's signature to get changed to a default cat and not a resized version of my real profile picture.By like two weeks too, I should really read the replies to the post I'm replying to.I already ninja'd you! That already exists. I support this, it makes sense. Besides, when accounts are deleted, their usernames remain unavailable. That should apply here as well.

Don't recycle usernames after a username change
User IDs don't change after a username change because they represent where you are in chronological order of when you joined Scratch compared to everyone else. If I had a different user ID, that just means I have a new account with a different join date. My username was changed to match exactly my user ID instead so that I look clever. I'm pretty sure you can answer the first question:It was changed to the user ID, and he used contact us.-snip-What did you change it to? How'd you even change it??
No, my user ID stayed the same when I changed my username.
You can see it right next to this post's contents. What did you change it to?
I think someone else already answered that: How'd you even change it??
…and he used contact us.
