Proposed "subscription" implementation
What do you mean “direct answer”? Mine is suggesting a new “subscriptions” section. They're suggesting to receive a message when someone they “subscribed to” releases a project. There's a difference, and if you bothered to read my OP you would've known that. Please tell me the direct answer. We're asking for different things, and therefore it's not a duplicate. I don't see how that's hard to understand. Just because they're supposed to solve the same issue doesn't mean they're the same suggestion. By that logic, the turn-based collaboration suggestion would be the same thing as live collaboration. Please provide more content. It seems it has some similar content to yours. This would be a button next to the follow button, and would notify you (in messages) when they upload a project
By what logic?
By what means?
For what reason?

Support!
I usually only follow Scratch friends, so it would be nice to be notified when a new project comes out from Scratchers whose content I like, without it being public that I'm receiving their project notifications.
Honestly, I feel like a lot of people follow users but don't really care when they release a new project (my account has over 180 followers, but my most-viewed project only has about 60 views). This would fix that problem, because if you really wanted to see what projects a user is releasing, you would subscribe to them. I'm guessing a lot of activity gets lost in the “What's Happening?” tab when people follow over 10 active users (especially with people who used to actively participate in F4F, which may have led to them having followed hundreds of people), so this would be much easier to manage.
However, you might have to open new tabs to view all the projects if the Project Notifcation window in your inbox has multiple projects in it, then closes once you've read it. Perhaps it could behave similar to the “Messages from the ST” window, so you would click a little X to close it?

I like that idea. Consider it accepted, but I'm too lazy to work on the mock-up right now However, you might have to open new tabs to view all the projects if the Project Notifcation window in your inbox has multiple projects in it, then closes once you've read it. -snip-I suppose so. It does seem different enough and it ultimately the ST's choice to decide.

The topic that I just mentioned does the following:
- Notify a chosen Scratcher when the subscribed Scratcher uploads a project via mail

And by “receive a message” I mean through the current message system. Mine is suggesting a new “subscriptions” section. They're suggesting to receive a message when someone they “subscribed to” releases a project.

In the simplest terms I can think of, I mean this: They're only asking for the subscriptions to be sent through the standard mail system. I'm suggesting to give them a different icon in the top right and put them in a completely different section so they'll be easier to find even if you get a lot of messages. So by activity message? If I'm not reading your posts, I would not have answered them. So, I think this might be a good reason but isn't the following status sufficient to fill the uploading project enough? And also that why we can access a direct link to the project via our existing section? Ego dissentio cum hoc.

I disagree. As I think I may have stated in the past, I often miss new project releases because they get clouded with loves, favorites, and other similar activity. I've had to unfollow people in the past just because they were so active that I couldn't see anything else in my What's Happening section.I mean that the following section is enough. This is a nice suggestion, and I can see it possibly being added to the website. Nice job on the mockups, too! I just have some quick feedback:
Firstly, I agree with gosoccerboy5 saying that the coloring of the subscription button doesn't quite feel right. I feel like red would be better fit for “negative” actions on an account, such as deleting it altogether or removing stuff. Perhaps some shade of orange █ would be better?
While I'm on the same subject, I feel like shortening down the text within the button to “Subscribe” would be a bit better, even if it makes the purpose of the button a bit less obvious.
For me, something seems off about the way that you presented the placement of the subscription notification icon in your mockup. Here's a brief list of alternatives that I thought of (with some commentary):
1) Just include subscription notifications into the overall notification count, without adding any special indicators. I don't really like this one as much as #2.
2) Have any subscription notifications “override” the regular orange number icon and be the only icon next to the message icon. This might sound confusing; I might make a mockup sometime soon.
3) Just make a separate subscription notification icon. I don't really like this one as much, either.

Ok, I support it now. I'm also wondering if we could “sticky” a notif for a project, so we can access the project directly.I disagree. I agree with that too. I will get around to updating that eventually. While I'm on the same subject, I feel like shortening down the text within the button to “Subscribe” would be a bit better, even if it makes the purpose of the button a bit less obvious.
subscription notification icon in your mockup. Here's a brief list of alternatives that I thought of (with some commentary):For me, something seems off about the way that you presented the placement of the Maximouse and I came up with a solution I quite like: Put a bell icon at the end of the notification bubble and make it slightly more red. If you have a subscription notification and 0 regular messages then it would only show the bell.
-snip-
Wow, thanks! I don't think I'm the best at convincing people of things so it means a lot. Ok, I support it now.
I think that this would factor into I'm also wondering if we could “sticky” a notif for a project, so we can access the project directly.pangoliin-'s suggestion to make the notification be closed manually, which I will get around to making a mock-up for eventually as well.

I don't follow anyone because I don't want to but it is nice to know when a user makes a project after they made it, got front-paged, went on trending in every language, and only discover it through a mention of it on the forums (looking at you, Taco Burp).
