Being banned can probably cause chaos… but spam-bots would cause even more. Spam-Bots are programs that create fake accounts and then spam the forums with stuff irrelevant to Scratch. They typically post links to harmful sites.

Now, consider the following.

-Spam-bot spams the forums continuously. (I have seen them make up to 3 spam topics in a row) The spam topics contain links to harmful sites.
-New Scratcher copies and pastes link to dangerous sites.
-New Scratcher gets identity stolen or phished.

Now…. if you had a choice of being banned for a couple of hours or getting your identity stolen or getting phished, which one would you choose?

But as for me…. if I was to compare the dangers, this is what I would compare:

Being banned < Getting phished/ getting identity stolen

For me… I would rather get banned then to have my identity stolen or get phished.

Also, those 4 people should probably know better than to mis-use the reporting feature - they will only get themselves into trouble for doing so.
