the issue is if you are dead you cant change your activity cause your dead Support if you can turn it on/off.
This will be very useful for some people that always get comments saying:

However, it should be toggleable, and off by default, for privacy protection. The activity status shouldn't be controlled by the user, instead it should be based on how often the user performs an action (commenting, loving projects, sharing projects, posting on forums), although the user should have the option to set the status to “Retired” whenever they want.

rather than 4 levels, how about 8 levels?

Slightly active (Scratcher comes 9-13 times a month)
Slightly retired (Scratcher comes 5-8 times a month)
Semi-retired (Scratcher is absent a lot, but comes a bit)
