Main Concerns Over 2.0

The alpha looks great, but I have a lot of questions that I don't want to make into seperate topics :y
First of all: Will I be able to export my project as an .swf?
Also, why do the forums still use the system of quoting and lack a reply system? I don't like to babysit forum threads, and it I'm annoyed that I am not notified to replies, as with other sites.
Finally, will the new scratch be mostly online based? I'm not sure that I want to rely on an internet connection, even for a better experience.

I don't want to complain so much, but I've been wondering about these since I first saw the alpha.

1. I think that might happen, but don't count on it.
2. It's because of how the forums were designed. Programming something like that would be incredibly complicated.
3. Yes, it will be online based. However, a downloadable version is likely coming later.

You could use stencyl for flash games.

Yeah, I guess that would work.

Main Concerns Over 2.0

Although members of the Scratch community have produced some amazing games with Scratch, I think we have to keep in mind that Scratch is first and foremost a teaching tool. Once your programming skills have advanced to the point of wanting to deploy games to the web or other platforms, you would likely be better served by a tool such as Stencyl (as soniku3 recommended above). Stencyl builds on the connecting block metaphor of Scratch while adding built-in complete support for SWF-export, level-building, physics and animation. The SWF publish option is available in the free version.

Thanks for the help guys!
I am annoyed with Stencyl in particular for its lack of flexibility, and requirement for tilesets, and am impressed with the versatility of Scratch, which is partially why I made this topic. I don't have the budget for the actual Flash program, and few beginner programs other than stencyl have .swf capabilities.
Honestly, I have no real need for .swf, aside from sharing content on other sites, so it's not too important, but it would be a great feature.

Not sure when we'll get this in there, but I believe it should be doable in the not too distant future.

That's what we do around here, though, just log on and check the threads you made. It's not that tough.
