Her tabby coat was speckled with tiny mushrooms—little toadstools that had somehow gotten tangled in her fur during her exploration of the woods. She was completely unaware of them, too caught up in her excitement to notice the mushrooms clinging to her.

“Catch me if you can, Effie!” Bear called over her shoulder, her voice filled with mischief as she dashed between the trees. Her small paws kicked up a flurry of dust and leaves behind her, but she couldn’t help the thrill of being free.

Effie, her gray coat gleaming in the sunlight, trotted after her sister with a grin. Despite Bear’s wild antics, Effie kept her pace steady, enjoying the playful chase. “You’re getting mushrooms in your fur again, Bear!” she called teasingly, her voice light with amusement.

Bear glanced back and finally noticed the small mushrooms dotting her fur—some on her shoulders, others tucked near her ears. She stopped, lifting her paw and examining the tiny fungi clinging to her coat. “Oh, not again!” she groaned, brushing at them, but the mushrooms stuck stubbornly.

Effie padded over, shaking her head with a soft laugh. “You’re like a walking forest, Bear. It’s like you bring the woods with you wherever you go.”

Bear grinned, her tail flicking with amusement. “Well, I am part of ThunderClan’s forest, aren’t I? I guess it’s just… sticking with me!”

Effie chuckled, flicking a mushroom off Bear’s back with her paw. “Just don’t bring them to the elders. They won’t find it as funny as I do.”

Bear puffed out her chest proudly, ignoring the mushrooms still hanging from her fur. “One day, I’ll be the best warrior in ThunderClan—and then no one will care if I have mushrooms in my fur! They’ll all just be impressed with my skills!”

Effie’s smile softened as she nudged her sister gently. “You’ll be a great warrior, Bear. Mushrooms and all.”

Bear’s eyes sparkled with determination. “You’ll see, Effie. I’ll be faster than any cat in ThunderClan! And I’ll still have mushrooms in my fur!”

Effie laughed again, her green eyes full of warmth. “I’m sure you will, Bear. And when you do, I’ll be the one to tell the story of how you started your journey—mushrooms and all.”

With a final playful glance, Bear sprinted off again, her paws kicking up dust and mushrooms in every direction, ready for her next adventure.
