This is the official topic for The Dark is Rising, a series of five fantasy books written by Susan Cooper. The books feature Will Stanton, the last Old One for the Light, on a quest to find a series of magical objects to stop the rising Dark.

Light content warning! While the books are generally suitable for all ages, some intense scenes are described in detail - although they do not usually occur to main characters (with the exception of The Grey King). No mature language occurs, and there is one adult reference that is not crude and a passing mention. Overall, the series is suitable for a PG audience.
