[FAQ, read this before posting] What open source projects are!
Hi! This is a FAQ guide I made so that people who are wondering what open source projects are can get answers quickly instead of making another topic named “Huh? Open source projects? What does that mean?” If the ST could pin this that would be great :D
Q: What are “open source projects?”
A: Open-source means that anyone can use the code freely (usually under some conditions to keep things from going crazy). You can copy the code, and sometimes you can contribute back to it to make it even better. GitHub is a great website that is commonly used to share open-source projects. Believe it or not, the Scratch editor is also actually open-source!
Q: Oh, projects! That means I can share my Scratch project here, right?
A: Do not share your Scratch projects in this forum! While Scratch projects are technically open-source, this forum was worded badly and you are not supposed to share your Scratch projects in here. It's referring to projects as in things that you work on. Also, you shouldn't share anything here that's not somehow related to scratch. TLDR: Don't share Scratch projects here, share other open-source coding projects related to Scratch.
Q: Alright, but then where should I share my Scratch projects?
A: The show and tell forum was made specifically for that purpose.
If you have any more questions about the forum in general, share them down below so I can add them to this. Happy Scratching! - MagentaDude
