4.0 beta, anytime soon?

When will Scratch beta 4.0 happen? and if Scratch 4.0 beta is here when will it be here in other people's eyes but the scratch team?

Nobody knows at this point. There hasn't even been any public announcement that Scratch 4.0 is actually in development, yet any sort of timeline. All we have is one job posting that says that they plan to start development in 2025.

its nowhere close to here unless its not planned

I said at the soonest but put a bunch of bold letters that are synonyms to rumors so younger children don’t go spreading the rumor that scratch 4.0 is releasing in 2027 to their entire preschool but it honestly made it more confusing (edit after re reading I realized it was beta and not the actual final version. but my statement I will still keep cause honestly I still feel like 2027/2028 would be a possible beta release)

probably not until they update the other pages to 3.0

Development of 4.0 is planned to begin in 2025, and it could take a while to make stable pages fit for even just beta. So I'd say 2026 at the soonest, but we can't really make an accurate guess because we don't know all of the features and plans for 4.0. So there is no real answer.

In my opinion Scratch doesn't need a 4.0, 3.0 does just fine for Scratch's needs. Only reason I could see to have a 4.0 version is optimization of the site.

There is an official document stating that development of 4.0 will begin in 2025.

i thought they develop in 2024 i think? but somebody says “wait untill javascript died” because its a release of new scratch

TBH never, that is until there is some major problem (reasoning is that 2.0 was made to convert squeak to flash, and 3.0 was because of flash discontinuing)

why in this … world, there be ai … in scratch 4.0 I would expect 3d sprites or somthing
also 3d and ai is conplexer than 2d so why wont they do both
