Offline Scratch editor on Chrome Web Store?
Right now, there is no way to use Scratch offline with a Chromebook. I know that they're pretty useless offline anyways, but Chromebooks are used a lot in schools, as is Scratch, and using Scratch offline on one would be great. Would this be possible to do, putting it on the Chrome Store, where you can use stuff offline? (I feel like this'll be rejected, but I'd like to know your opinions on the topic anyway.)

I, myself, own a chromebook (Well, my dad does).
Chromebooks cannot download software, it's browser only. So “Offline” editor in the chromebook would just be an app that links to the Online editor.

You really can't do much offline on a Chromebook, as it's essentially a glorified web browser. Sadly, I don't think this suggestion will work.

This wouldn't work, but not for the reason you think. Chromebooks actually do have offline apps, which work pretty well. But Scratch wouldn't be able to be made into an offline Chrome app because they don't allow Flash. Google only wants HTML5 or NaCl. Well, I didn't think it'd really happen anyways. Nice to know though.

Offline Scratch editor on Chrome Web Store?
Hi All,
I think this idea does work but for different reasons. I work in a primary school that has just gone over to Chrome books. We have always used the offline editor in the windows environment as we felt we did not want the children to have accounts online.
So where I feel chrome books struggle is that in order to save our work we need to have an online account, which we do not want to do.
So Chrome books could have a web based version that allows to create programs and then save them to their drives! In essence the same as a windows local version.
That way we can safeguard , reduce the hassle of multiple online accounts to manage and still save work.
to me this sounds like a good idea….
)
thanks
Simon

Actually, you can! Just make a project without an account by pressing create in the top left corner. Then press file, then press download to your computer! Hi All,

Offline Scratch editor on Chrome Web Store?
I think that there should be a Chrome App for Scratch. I would love for there to be a way to get the Offline Editor without using a separate program (I can't install it atm, dont ask.) and a Chrome App could do it perfectly. Similar to how there is a Office 365 Chrome Extension, there should be a Chrome App for Scratch. This would really help when I am travelling bored with my laptop and cannot use the website.
