Happy Black History Month, everyone!

Since 1976, Black History Month has been an annual celebration to honor and recognize the history of Black Americans. While Black History Month originated in the United States, it is recognized worldwide, and you’re invited to celebrate too!

The theme for 2024 is “African Americans and the Arts,” which acknowledges the many impacts Black Americans have had on visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more.

We invite you to celebrate Black History Month on Scratch. If you are looking for ways to celebrate, you might consider:

• Think about the theme of “African Americans and the Arts” and create a project around that
  
• Who are some Black musicians or artists that inspire you? Create a project to let us know!
  
• Design a project to help others learn about Black History Month
  
• Animate the name of a person who inspires you in Black history, and share one or two facts about them
  
• Create an interactive card to celebrate Black History Month more generally
  
• Create a studio and invite others to celebrate Black history Month with you

There are so many ways to celebrate Black History Month. The choice of what to make or how to celebrate is up to you!
