I'm fairly certain “This advice can be mixed with advice, so consider it with ice cream” isn't what you meant to say, which shows how online translations aren't accurate. I don't know what you were trying to say, and because the translation failed, I cannot help you
this suggestion goes in hand with the discourse suggestion, take it with a scoop of ice cream

Suggestion changed to Advice. Goes In Hand turned into Mixed. these may seem tiny at a small level, but mistranslations can pile up. Online Translation Isn't Accurate

if it makes you change your mind, here is a deepl reverse translate
i am not russian to -> 私はロシア人ではない。
私はロシア人ではない。to -> I am not Russian.
if you think its because deepl is only good at japanese, think again
this is a DeepL translated sentence. I eat ice cream a lot. to -> esta es una frase traducida de DeepL. Como mucho helado.
esta es una frase traducida de DeepL. Como mucho helado. -> this is a phrase translated from DeepL. I eat a lot of ice cream.

1. That's a simple sentence.
2. I've been using DeepL for my English and Japanese studies. I can say first hand it is not completely reliable. It will very often omit complete sentences and mistranslate simple things due to overload
3. DeepL is not free. Once you use it too much in one day, it asks you to either pay or stop using. Will Scratch have the money to pay for an unreliable program?
4. that sentence, while technically correct, sounds very textbook-y and off

Again, that's a simple sentence. Someone making a long sentence asking about a complex coding problem is not.

let me say this:
1. think of a better one to translate?
2. overload??
3. you called it partially reliable (half empty half full), and now you call it unreliable? also I can't decide on 1 program to choose
4. better than having to translate it yourself
also which situation is better?

a. all the other forums need manual moderation and manual translate for the 90% or so of ST moderating
b. some false positives of bad words, no need for manual translate, bad words filtered

Let me put the sentence “My alt got banned!! I didn't do anything, it was my sister! and now i have to use this account because my old one is locked and im scared help me!!!!!” ive genuinely seen posts like that into DeepL Japanese. We get “私のaltがBANされた!私は何もしていない!私は何もしていない、それは私の妹だった!そして今、私は私の古いものがロックされているため、このアカウントを使用する必要があり、私は怖いです助けてください!!!”

When you put this back into DeepL, it might sound normal, but that result in reality sounds extremely awkward with many grammer issues. It even started repeating itself and inserting english. This could confuse non-english uses.

among_us1w2 wrote:

2. overload??
When you try and translate a paragraph with multiple sentences (especially in ENG -> other languages translations) it will completely omit parts of the sentence and/or start repeating itself. This cannot be fixed other than to manually go in and rephrase the sentence, and sometimes it never fixes itself. Most Scratcher's have a set way of typing and probably wont change for an update like this, and ST cannot manually go into every sentence. If “overload” occurs, then it will make non-native speakers confused as to way parts of the sentence are missing/repeating and they may miss very important context

among_us1w2 wrote:

Partly reliable… in small does. If you need to translate a small sentence in a very formal style, it can, but it struggles heavily with anything more complex. Saying something is “more reliable than Google Translate” is like saying something is more reliable than a sleazy man in a coat. It's true, but it's a really low bar

among_us1w2 wrote:

4. better than having to translate it yourself
And you know what situation would be EVEN BETTER than that? Letting native speakers speak to each other and keeping everyone comfortable

I do like the idea of this but any form of online translation is usually pretty off sadly

why are you “sewing together” this suggestion and “speech suggestion” together, and why are you considering it with a spoon of ice cream?????

While translators are extremely innacurate (I would make a joke of a phrase which translators kept getting wrong but its not very appropriate), this would still be nice to have.

and no, deepl epic fails completely, a (somewhat racist) phrase in chinese that refers to russians gets translated to “MaoZeDong”

ah yes, “Hatsune Miku (Japanese Manga Series)” (the translation is correct but since when was miku a manga series

further proof that deepl doesn't really work:

(As i've labled, the phrase actually means “A thief secretly steals the items that someone named TouTou secretly stole”, but deepl just gets “Thieves sneak in what they sneak in.” which makes no sense at all)
