No offense but why do some people not celebrate it? it's literally just a day to get free candy.
do you celebrate china's birthday? (holiday in china)
Not everyone knows of the holiday, nor does everyone agree with the meanings behind the holiday, sometimes holidays also clash with people's religions
Halloween isn't religious though. It's about getting free candy.

It was originally a pagan religious celebration, and some people of certain religions choose not to celebrate it for that reason.

Most holidays except for stuff like (inter)national hotdog day is religious, its just that they start losing those religious meaning after a while

halloween update

no support, as stated before, not all cultures celebrate halloween (i had a past friend who doesn't celebrate halloween). and not only does it cause issues for religious people, some kids (such as people with autism, adhd, or people who are generally young) can find it hard to figure out how to use the site because of the sudden change.

with the catblocks while they did change it for april fools, it was an extremely minor change and i did not find any major problems with them. also they're so cute lol

halloween update

Semi-Support
Pros and cons:
Pros:
1. It could be a bit more logical to have a Halloween update
2. It would be easier then to use something I can't name because of this policy
Cons:
1. The ST is a non-profit organization
2. They have a lot of stuff to look over

changing the color scheme of the site to a more halloweeny one (orange, green, purple, etc.)
The color scheme of the site is already purple, there is no accessible orange color that is already used on parts of the website, and I don't think that using Scratch's green brand color (like used on the remix button) would feel very “Halloweeny”.

I suggest scratch adds a halloween update. ideas for the update include
  • making the default sprite a pumpkin, ghost, or something halloweeny around the time of halloween
changing the color scheme of the site to a more halloweeny one (orange, green, purple, etc.)
thats all
with this then we'll make
- easter
- christmas

but wait! we can't discriminate…
- happy new year
- independence day
- diwali
- eid/ramadan
- Hanukkah

poor scratch
S O L U T I O N S
easter = pastel color scheme with bunny as default sprite
christmas = red/green/white color scheme with christmas tree, santa, or reindeer as default sprite
new year = green color scheme with fireworks as default sprite
independence day = red/white/blue color scheme also with fireworks as default sprite (7 months 3 days later the fireworks return!!!0
diwali = rainbow (i guess) color scheme with (maybe???) a lantern as default sprite
eid/ramadan = (whatever colors commonly associated with these things) color scheme also with a lantern as default sprite
Hanukkah = (whatever colors commonly associated with this thing) color scheme with one of those candle holder thingies with candles in it as default sprite
NOTICE!!!!! I don't celebrate diwali, eid, ramadan, or Hanukkah.

halloween update

I have a lot to say through the previous posts:

Happy New Year is celebrated world-wide, however some countries have different time zones.

Independence day is July 4th for AMERICA. Other countries have different independence days.

Christmas: Discrimination to people who don't celebrate Christmas.

Same reasons for Hanukkah, Diwali, etc.

Also, it isn't logical to have a halloween update because only like 14.5% of Scratch (educated guess; it's probably less/more than that) lives in the US.

Some religions/religion groups (like mine) don't celebrate Halloween, and some countries don't celebrate it, like Mexico, they celebrate Dia de los Muertos instead.

It's roots have a deeper meaning. My religion (for the most part) does not celebrate Halloween. It is considered the Day of the Devil and it comes from All Hallows Eve, which used to be a disrespectful mock to the Christian (mainly Catholic) celebration, All Saints Day.

That number is off, as according to the Statistics page, there are (currently) 38,775,610 users from the United States out of 120,494,596 total users, which would be 32.18%, and even that's probably not accurate because a lot of users from the United States likely enter fake locations. But this is getting offtopic, as not all Americans celebrate Halloween, and not everyone that celebrates Halloween is American.
