Rubik's Cube using lists and text input commands

Here's an idea anyone can use with credit:

  • A Rubik's Cube project where each small square is stored as an item in a list.
  • The user can type in different commands, based on the Rubik's cube rotations (e.g. U, R, L, F, D, B, as well as the counterclockwise U', R', etc.). Each command would affect the Rubik's Cube until the user eventually solves it (or not).

Other features:
  • It would also be nice if the cube was visualized, along with a nice animation for each rotation. Most likely using pen.
  • …Or just confuse the player by displaying the cube using only text descriptions
  • a cloud high score for solving the Rubik's Cube this way
  • a cheat sheet of algorithms

I kind of already have an idea for storing the faces and doing the permutations, but I'm way too busy to make it yet so that is how this idea came about.

Your idea lodged in my brain and now this exists:

If someone who knows what they're doing wants to finish this, go ahead.
