why can't we? we have to make dumb workarounds like ‘robot app’ or ‘clock app’ or ‘blue bird app’.
We won't send inappropriate links or something nor will we ask for info

Maybe you wont send inappropriate links, but a predator could.
Maybe you wont ask for info, but a predator could
Besides, most of Scratch's target audience isn't even allowed on most social media.

I was about to write a one page essay, but to put it simply, they probably have little to no moderation. And, scratch doesn't like that.

They don't have moderation most of the time, and a lot of bad stuff can be on social media. Most social media platforms require you to be at least 13 and more than 50% of Scratch users are younger than 13.

Believe me, they will.

There's no guarantee that no one will send inappropriate links or ask for info. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Its because they aren't moderated, as they don't have the strictness that Scratch has (Meaning I can send a Private chat Google Doc on Twitter for example, and not get banned), and they require users to be 13+ (Because COPPA regulations on collecting data, which COPPA prevents companies from collecting data from people under 13)

And [bird site] itself has private messaging and limited rules.

Most of those sites have little to no moderation as strict as Scratch Team's, which presents a safety issue.

Oh, you're not bad, but that doesn't mean everyone isn't…
For years, there's been a secret cult group dedicated to kidnapping children, and giving them candy that tastes like dishwasher soap. They go by the name…

Pedalfiles.

They may look utterly stupid and innocent, but these dastardly pedal-file combinations are responsible for the deaths of thousands of children every year. Once they know where you live, there's no escape. They'll use social media to privately communicate with you, and continue to do so until they get your address!

The scratch team has worked hard to keep us all safe from the pedalfiles, by banning talk and sharing of personal contact information. That way, the pedalfiles can't get away with their dastardly deeds, saving your life!

So, while you may not intend to share personal information or send inappropriate links, these pedalfiles definitely will. And because there's no way to check who's a pedalfile and who's not, the best way to keep everyone safe is to make sure no one can abuse the comment feature.

Just wondering, although the site itself is not safe for Scratch, would sufficient obfuscation be allowed?

Children who have never heard of the site would not be able to guess what it requires knowledge on its mascots, icon, or issues. Here's a few examples:

- clyde site
- pay for checkmark site
- snoo avatar site

As long as you're still not attempting to share personal information, you should be good. I often use “Another Platform” to refer to Discord.

I know you'll probably just say statistics
