Discourage "Name" accounts. [READ BEFORE FLIPPING POSTING]

Far too often I see accounts for characters from popular movies. It's just an account, named after the character with a picture and maybe an about me. These accounts make no projects, and have no activity. They are usually accompanied by several other accounts for more characters from the same movie.
(If you actually read this add this to the beginning of your post: “I am a sofa”)
Now, I know websites aren't free, so I'm 100% certain each new user on the website adds more data to the site, and thus hosting it costs more. And maybe some legit users want to use these names and still make projects?
(If you actually read this add this to the beginning of your post: “I am not a sofa”)
I suggest, somehow, these account types are discouraged. Maybe something in the “create a new account” popup? “Please don't create accounts just for names.” Or in the CG? “Please don't create accounts only for the purpose of creating an inactive account for a fictional character” or something like that.
(If you actually read this add this to the beginning of your post: “I am a paradox”)

No support. Way too many of these “ban or discourage ____” forums for my liking, when I really don't think it's much of a problem.

so just because you're sick of “ban” topics you instantly unsupport? at least give some acknowledgement of the problem…

Hmm.. 50.00…1% support.
Pros: I see why you suggest this, and I see the problem, and I don't see why this shouldn't be implemented. It' just.. Discouraging, right?
Cons: Because when I was younger, the warning “We might delete your account if you have 6 months of no activity”, “Accounts blah would be deleted”, etc. scared me. But my reason isn't a strong reason though- young children will register with their parents. And I do hate those kind of inactive accounts.

My only problem with this is that most of them are going to make accounts to do stuff, and then never end up doing anything. Sorry, but no support.

When did I use the word ban in the OP?

Is this forum discussing banning people who make character scratch accounts for role playing? If so, no support. People are allowed to do this, you know.

1. I didn't even use the word ban in the OP.
2. No, it's not about roleplaying. It's about people who just make the account for characters from movies then leave them there and don't make projects. Please read OPs before posting.

Semi-support, as it wouldn't hurt anyone and would clear up spammy accounts.

However, I think that people will still make them if they are simply discouraged - and the discouragement definitely needs to be in the account sign-up, as nobody would really read the CG before making their first account.

Well, that aside I still don't support; how many people make these accounts? Are they that much of a waste of server space? Besides, banning AE studios is in the list of already rejected suggestions, so I'm not sure why the ST would be okay with that but not with some other accounts.

This.
I'll say 30% support. It's not that gigantic of a problem, but it could be done.

I think it needs to be a bit more imperative than “Please do not..” otherwise it will just be ignored

I have zéro idea what she is talking about… Could someone translate what the user is trying to say? I can't understand…

Well… They sort of Complained about that: @SpeakVisually addressed it here:

We are experimenting with an algorithm to prevent ‘Add Everything’ studios from appearing on project pages and search results. Why are we doing this?

We want studios to be spaces for Scratchers to talk about and curate projects based on themes that interest them. For example, ‘Anime Academy and School’ is a place for Scratchers who love Anime to learn from one another, and discover new and interesting projects. The ‘Looking for a logo’ studio is a place where Scratchers can request personalized logos. There are countless other examples of studios being used in interesting and creative ways!

Some Scratchers really like adding projects to add everything studios – to each their own! But we want to make sure that Add Everything studios don’t crowd out the studios built around themes that are more specific than “everything.” We’re working on a way to prevent Add Everything studios from showing up on project pages and search results. And all studios will now only show the number of projects they contain up to 100, after which the studio just says 100+.

Remember - if someone on Scratch likes adding projects to AE studios, don’t hassle ‘em! And no need to report studios just for being AE’s, they’re not against the rules :]

But to answer your question, it says “…They are not against the rules…”
