I'd have to completely rewrite the lyrics, though. I write songs to exercise my own creativity, and if I tried to write a song based on lyrics that somebody else made — especially since I don't have a melody or instrumental to work with — then the final product would not turn out well.

That's also aside from my thoughts on the specific lyrics in the OP, but maybe it won't be helpful for me to list out all my thoughts here.
