Prevent VPN networks with recent alert(s), account deletion(s) by the ST and/or current ban(s) from creating accounts
I have seen someone evade bans they receive. This feature would help prevent them from coming back.
When someone attempts to create an account from a VPN network, they should receive this error message:
It would detect a VPN by asking for the IP address. This algorithm will not allow account creation if there is no response and there are recent alert(s), account deletion(s) by the ST and/or current ban(s).
By recent, I mean 100 days.

It looks like you are using a VPN network. If none of your accounts are blocked, or you don't have an account, please try again from another network.

This seems like a good idea, but how would it detect if it was a VPN?

Firstly, people use VPNs for other stuff than evading Scratch bans (for example, you don't want websites to know your IP).
And secondly, how would Scratch detect if you're using a VPN?

I don’t think it could detect a vpn. Firstly, people use VPNs for other stuff than evading Scratch bans (for example, you don't want websites to know your IP).

theoretically it could by checking if your IP was that of a VPN's (by mannually listing out VPN IPs) or by “assuming” if you have the same IP as many other peopleI don’t think it could detect a vpn. However, this doesn't do anything as a proxy can do the exact same thing and is basically undetectable… (from what i've heard, never used one lol)

Cuz people who use VPN’s only ever wanna break Scratch’s rules and are not looking for security(is that the right word) online.
Perhaps i want my IP address to be private for reasons other than Scratch, as, despite never being banned, i have a VPN- on my phone!
Just use Contact Us if someone’s ban evading, or report share they said it. Besides, in that case, lets ban school networks from accessing Scratch, people may get IP banned off of school networks and use it at school.

Also yeah, no support, since most scratchers use VPNs outside of scratch and often forget to turn it off in scratch, leading to an undesired IP ban.>Google “VPN Detection” And secondly, how would Scratch detect if you're using a VPN?

Prevent VPN networks with recent alert(s), account deletion(s) by the ST and/or current ban(s) from creating accounts
Just because of 1 possible use of them, we should outright ban them? I feel like that's a little extreme.

Ussually, VPN ban evading is used only for unfair bans, like if someone mass reported them for no reason and contact us doesn't work.Just report the scratcher again and the new IP will also be banned. I have seen someone evade bans they receive. This feature would help prevent them from coming back.
When someone attempts to create an account from a VPN network, they should receive this error message:It looks like you are using a VPN network. If none of your accounts are banned, or you don't have an account, please try again from another network.
I think this was intended specifically for IP bans.
