Hearts would be more vague, and therefore be more flexible, for example, on the suggestions forums, it could mean “I support”, which would prevent many spam, while on the HwS forums, it could mean “read that and it helps”

What about Things Im Making And Creating? I feel like this feature should be restricted to suggestions, show and tell, n requests since those topics are usually meant to be permanent
You should be able to select if you'd want things to be sorted from newest or most hearted
Newest being the default

That is precisely why I disagree with banning the phrase. It’s like banning users asking for loves on a project, or followers, or attention — in the right places, it can be fine. Also, I think that it should be a little more lax on the forums. Just like how we can say Discord, automodmute, and suicide (in the right contexts, of course), it is useful for asking questions about Scratch and particularly that feature of the forums. also another thing, why ban asking for hearts? its not like they do anything, they are puely visual
I do see a few flaws with this idea, though:
- While it may encourage more constructive replies, it will also encourage an idea that foruming is like a popularity contest, and that you need to attain the most hearts in order to win this contest. You could also describe it as a ballot box. That goes against the fundamental ideas of the forums. It’s a space meant for helping people.
- I dont see r3ddit users asking for upvotes.

I could see this. However, I feel it should be private. Such a feature feels more of a bookmark then anything. However, if we also had a fav feature we could the heart a public thing.

Support, this would be helpful
no support for detecting if you're begging for hearts though, that would result in many false positives

On lower post subreds, they usually beg for upvotes. Or, they repost content that's been posted, also, begging for upvotes.I haven't seen a single redsocialmediauser ask for upvotes.Well, your on the wrong subred.I dont see r3ddit users asking for upvotes. That is precisely why I disagree with banning the phrase. This actually may just stop some people from just saying “support” and nothing else so this actually may be a good solution to that.

I mentioned earlier that while that is true, I also feel like the funniest posts will get more hearts than what are arguably more constructive posts. While funny posts are good, I feel like these hearts will encourage people to go too far, and everyone will focus more on making it a meme than helping. I think a better alternative would to change it to a “This helped!” button or something along those lines. This actually may just stop some people from just saying “support” and nothing else so this actually may be a good solution to that.

That does make sense, however, a “This helped!” button would be too specific (like in the suggestions forum), so I would say, we should have a button which has a general purpose, but still DOESN"T convey the message of popularity (something like a checkmark? or even just a green dot or something)I mentioned earlier that while that is true, I also feel like the funniest posts will get more hearts than what are arguably more constructive posts. And although we shouldn't have a detector for begging for likes, it should still be in the rules to be not allowed (ig it would be considered offtopic as it would lead to people trying to get more likes, which is offtopic)

That’s not a valid reason to not support, hearting a post does literally nothing to it other than just be a number that shows how many people interacted with it No support because then the forums will just turn into a thing about fame
It doesn’t “make you famous” to have a lot of hearts, if anything it encourages people to make better posts

Maybe you could also sort posts by hearts, most recent, and the current one
This would also be nice if it was added to the api

That, I disagree with. With the exceptions of New Scratchers, Show and Tell, Project Save and Level Codes, Things I’m Making and Creating, and Things I’m Reading and Playing (which is only 5 forums), it can be useful in every other forum. That does make sense, however, a “This helped!” button would be too specific (like in the suggestions forum),
