Isn’t PPTBF just where the curators check a project, make sure it’s appropriate, then add it to the studio? Besides, the SDS has different themes each time, so if they do have a private forum, its probably to discuss that.

PPTBF curators don't have any say about what is featured, though — all they do is add projects to the studio that fit the requirements. I don't think they need to know what is going to be featured in the future.

7.1 Private messaging
Scratch currently has public messaging, meaning anyone can see the comments that you write. As a result, people are more likely to be respectful since anyone can see the comment. However, with private messaging, people know that only the intended recipient can see the message, which could lead to many more disrespectful or inappropriate comments. The Scratch Team also simply does not have the resources to moderate a private messaging system, precisely because there would be a lot of bad comments. In addition, it is a huge Internet safety concern and is not the purpose of Scratch anyway.

This suggestion extends to allowing users to post links to other private messaging websites, such as Discord. Many such messaging websites are not as well-moderated as Scratch is. If such links were allowed, Scratch may be held responsible if anything bad happens to someone.

Keep in mind that there already exists a private SDS forum for Scratchers who help out with the SDS. Despite private messaging concerns, SDS curators are usually well-established members of the Scratch community who can be trusted not to break the Community Guidelines — and even if they do, the forum is well-moderated by a Scratch Team member who can intervene if necessary.

So, another private forum for PPTBF is not immediately rejected, I suppose. The question from there, aside from whether or not we really need such a forum, is whether or not the PPTBF curators can be trusted to engage in a private forum. I'm not sure, myself — but it is worth noting that it is generally much easier to become a PPTBF curator than it is to become an SDS curator.

I have a feeling it would just lead to that.
But yes this is not rejected but probably should be

If many people are going to join this forum, I don't think it's even private messaging, right?

No support. The forum will probably be useless because you can’t talk about much, and it’l probably just go off topic.

Then what's the point of the SDS Curator Forum?

That makes more sense. Because if you ask it in the “Questions forum” not a lot of people will know the answers since people on that forum probably haven’t been pptbf curators

The SDS Curator Forum is used to discuss future themes for the SDS and coordinate who writes the studio description, who makes the studio thumbnail, etc. Since the SDS is about making projects that fit a certain theme, and since any projects you submit cannot be more than a month old, it makes sense that the SDS forum is private. Otherwise Scratchers would know the theme early before the studio is set up, and they would make their projects early. Then Scratchers who don't know about the SDS theme until it's live might feel like they're “late to the party,” so to speak.

(I don't know if this is actually the reason why such discussion is private, but this was the first thing that came to my mind.)

What are some questions that only PPTBF curators would be able to answer? Being a PPTBF curator is easy and transparent enough that anyone who hangs around the PPTBF studio often enough will get an idea of what PPTBF curators do — and all they do is just add projects to the studio if they fit the requirements.

A private forum for the PPTBF curators sounds like a good idea. However, many arguments can arise.

For one, why do temporary curators need a private forum? They have only 1 job which is adding projects.
For two, as said above, nobody can be sure that they can be trusted. Yes, they are scratchers, but who knows what they might have done or intend to do?

There are many more points but I'll just leave it here.

Whats the theme of PPTBF that needs to be discussed then?
Edit: The ST features them, and i don’t think they need another private forum to discuss what to feature.

first the pptbf forum is for suggestions about pptbf where only pptbf curators can suggest things about pptbf like changing the rules as long its not rejected by scratch team

second they have to solve the quiz and if you fail you have to wait 1 week to retake the quiz to prevent spam

Their only job is to add projects that fit the guidelines and fit the very simple rules.
They don’t usually suggest rule changes, do they? Most changes to the rules are, if I’m not mistaking, already rejected, and, wouldn’t Sugegstions be the place for it?
You have to sign contracts for phones and pay for windows or install Linux, so no hackers!

Again, PPTBF curators have only one job: Add projects to the studio. As a previous PPTBF curator, I am proof. My word is proof. I even got bored out because of it after a while. A forum just for these people would be too much. It would take time for the ST to even start coding it seeing as they don't have infinite resources. If you have a better argument, you can try. I myself don't support a new forum just for PPTBF curators.

its for requesting projects in this studio to be in the featured projects row in case if the scratch team ran out of ideas for a featured project
