Popup when you press the Create button on the navigation bar.

It's annoying when I press the Create button on the navigation bar when trying to click the Scratch logo or the Explore button, and creating an untitled project for the 237th time. So, maybe have a popup that shows up before pressing it? Also, you can add a “Do not show again” check box if you're one of the people who actually use the button and don't want a popup showing up each time.
It's a simple idea that can save many Scratchers from accidentally creating a new project, and doesn't cause any harm or annoyance to others.

I hate having to quickly go back in order to avoid creating a project, and I never use that button anyways. Support.

I never use the Create button either, and it would be kind of cool if it made a new project if you don’t have any, and take you to My Stuff if you did. That might require extra complexity and we already have a “My Stuff” button, but it’s possible. However, I feel the biggest reason Create takes you straight to the editor is that many new users probably expect the editor to come up when clicking “Create”. They want to make a project, after all. This also makes the most sense for signed-out users, so the button was probably left that way, but has the effect of starting a new blank project that is immediately saved.

Maybe it's just me, but I click the Scratch logo all the time, and yet I don't recall the last time I accidentally made a new project as a result of mistakenly clicking the Create button. Perhaps the solution here is just to take a little more time to watch where you're clicking.

Perhaps that's not a great point, though, since your proposed suggestion doesn't really harm or inconvenience anyone to a large degree.

I think the best way to do this is to just not immediately create a project when Create is clicked (instead, on the first save, including autosave)

Why not?

I know it's not the same suggestion, but there is a rejected suggestion to be able to edit comments once you have posted them. Scratchers often cite instances like “I wanted to edit my comment to fix typos.” But there's a really easy solution that already exists for that: type carefully, and proofread your comment beforehand.

I think this sort of simple solution exists here, too. Just move slowly and watch carefully where you click. Even just an extra 1 second of time will probably cut down on the number of accidental clicks.

support, this is a total pain when it happens. I have a ton of empty projects from this happening.
popup could say “would you like to create a project? yes | no”, no would just keep you on whatever page you were on, yes would make a project (clearly, lol)

Because it’s because people accidentally click there

A comment your typing and can read it

A click is just clicking something and not being able too go back fast enough
