The main argument of the anti-side is that trollers and spammers will exploit this feature.
Well yes, this is a valid argument. The amount of inappropriate comments would definitely increase. Yes, reporting is a thing, but that doesn't hide this face.
And we should consider that when weighing the pros and cons. Will the good side benefit more than the bad side?
Haha both king and bottom of page

Here's the problem: you would ‘t know who you’d be reporting. What if the username adds context to a situation and you reported a perfectly fine comment?
No. And we should consider that when weighing the pros and cons. Will the good side benefit more than the bad side?

If that was the case, then they shouldn't have commented anonymously, as that takes away context. The blame is on the commenter. Here's the problem: you would ‘t know who you’d be reporting. What if the username adds context to a situation and you reported a perfectly fine comment?

What if someone wanted to post inappropriate content, then? If there's no username attached to the comment, they would be more inclined to do so. Even if there is a report button, a user might not care about getting banned as much as being rejected by their piers. If that was the case, then they shouldn't have commented anonymously, as that takes away context. I'm sure this has been brought up in this discussion, but wouldn't this result in a lot of more scratchers getting “banned for no reason”? Of course, it was because of anonymous comments, but people wouldn't be able to know this, and people could also claim that they didn't make the comment or that the ST banned them for “no reason.”
EDIT: Also, what would be the benefit of going anonymous other than for a famous scratcher to hide their identity or for a person to be mean or play a prank? I don't really see any reasons for this to exist…

Maybe a solution for the troller problem would be that only the project/studio/profile owner can see the comment writer’s username just like the scratch team would be able to.

So basically the user who owns the project and the scratch team will be able to see it.

No, it wouldn't. This doesn't have many real benefits, and many cons.

Why not distinguish between anonymous users? Why not have it like Google Docs, with anonymous animals? That could fix that specific problem.(#22)I think that what @pandacorn_owl meant is that, say there are 3 different trolling accounts using the Anonymous feature, you couldn't keep track of who you reported.<snip>This will only hide your identity from Scratchers and New Scratchers, not the Scratch Team.
It might look like something like this to the Scratch Team:Your projects are awful. This project is very ugly.I've reported your project because it's too simple for Scratch.
However, users would probably see it like this:Your projects are awful. This project is very ugly.…and you don't know how many of these comments are made by the same person/account - which ones did you report? Did you report the same person three times? Or did you just report one of them? I've reported your project because it's too simple for Scratch.
and the scratch team will be able to see it.That kind of defeats the purpose. So basically the user who owns the project

Or have it by numbers. That could work too. Why not distinguish between anonymous users? Why not have it like Google Docs, with anonymous animals? That could fix that specific problem.

Scratch is very serious about keeping their community safe for everyone (I once had a reply deleted because I talked about how I thought there are only 2 genders.) so I doubt the ST would add something like this that can easily have people make rude comments without punishment.
Before you say “Well people can report the reply!” like others said you won't get banned for making one or two rude replies, and plus not everyone reports inappropriate comments they see anyways.

The numbers solution would easily solve the main problem of this suggestion: Not knowing who is who. You could easily trace the mean comments to the same anonymous user.Or have it by numbers. That could work too. Why not distinguish between anonymous users? Why not have it like Google Docs, with anonymous animals? That could fix that specific problem.

How would this work with the reply feature? Would it just be like this:
@Anonymous Thank you!
