I propose adding a slider next to the comment box called “Comment anonymously”. When you post a comment with this enabled, it will replace the comment username with “Anonymous” and the profile picture will be replaced by the default Scratch Cat profile picture.
This will only hide your identity from Scratchers and New Scratchers, not the Scratch Team.
You would still be able to report these comments. If an anonymous comment is reported, the user who posted the comment would get flagged.
You would also only be able to use this feature if you are a Scratcher.

This would be great! Imagine April Fools' Day! There would be a ton of anonymous users posting random stuff, and it would be fun!
But I see a problem Actually, the problem would be easily fixed by the Scratch Team. (In case you were wondering what the problem was, it was that people could abuse this feature.)
Another thing that would be cool is if the Scratch Team could also use this feature! It would be pretty cool, to be honest.

I think there would be a problem that st will not know who posted a mean comment or worked against community guidelines

They would just send the user a message about why the comment broke the guidelines, as usual.Yes, but how would the ST take action? no support, sorry.
even though you said “doesn't hide your identity from the ST”, I still feel like trolls could negatively take advantage of this (even if only until the ST catches on.)
also, I don't see how this could be useful unless someone (for example, not saying this is the only thing this could be used for) had something really nice to say to a Scratcher they looked up to, and were too embarrassed to comment it publicly. or perhaps they wanted to *harmlessly* prank their friends by anonymously commenting silly messages on their friend's profiles.
other than that, I don't really see how this could be useful.

Actually, adding on to this idea, if possible, this feature should be disabled for trolls.
(That is, if the Scratch Team or the username filter can tell if it's a troll account or not.)

I think there is still a benefit to having all comments non-anonymous to the public. If I went rogue and wanted to post anonymous disrespectful comments on your project, I could do that. While the Scratch Team would still send me alerts for doing so, one thing's for certain: you wouldn't know that it was me posting those comments. It would be kind of scary to still envision me as a helpful member of the community while, in the background, I am writing you disrespectful comments.
The more public everything is, the less likely someone would be disrespectful.

They wouldn't be able to, necessarily. Plus, if it was a troll account, the Scratch Team would just ban them right away, anyway. (That is, if the Scratch Team or the username filter can tell if it's a troll account or not.)

I honestly don’t see many real reasons why this would benefit Scratch, it would simply do more harm than good. Users could easily abuse this, by making hate comments on a user’s project anonymously and being nice when they’re not anonymous. This allows for deception in the Scratch Community, as it wouldn’t tell the creator of the project who made the comment.

Hmm, you're right. But at least the Scratch Team would be able to see who posted it anonymously. Wait, I'm confused. How would the Scratch Team be able to know who's a troll account, even if they don't have a list of usernames/reports of that account?
Well well well, k0d3rrr. You've asked the right person that.
Also, [removed by k0d3rrr - Please stop making hashtags about former Scratch Team members and how they should be Scratch Team members again, it was for a good reason]

If a user is spamming, or posting lots of disrespectful comments, it's pretty safe to assume that they're trolling, regardless of what the username is. Hmm, you're right. How would the Scratch Team be able to know who's a troll account, even if they don't have a list of usernames/reports of that account?

It actually tells that the ST can see. Maybe we can have this as ST point of view
VedanshS933 (Anomoyus)
Hi!
And keep this an hidden feature the ST should hide it so that the checkbox will be visible or not. If we close it and we had made Anomoyus comments before so it can show the same as ST can see and we turn it back on again then the comments will restore to only Anomoyus for Scratchers and new scratchers

I can only see mostly the scratch team using this feature in my opinion, but still would be a good feature for everyone. I was going to say that it wouldn't be a good idea because people can post rude stuff without anyone finding out who posted the mean comment but that got covered.

Just report these comments since they're not anonymous to the ST, they will ban these people. I honestly don’t see many real reasons why this would benefit Scratch, it would simply do more harm than good. Users could easily abuse this, by making hate comments on a user’s project anonymously and being nice when they’re not anonymous. Usually users don’t get banned for making rude comments though, so this doesn’t really solve the problem. You could be nice to the user, and when anonymous, make rude comments still. The ST doesn’t pay that much attention to rude comments unless they keep repeating.Just report these comments since they're not anonymous to the ST, they will ban these people.
