Adding cursive to Scratch

I think we need to add cursive letters in projects to scratch. Like when you go in your project, and you click text, there should be cursive font.

i'll be honest i couldn't read cursive for the longest time as a kid- kids might not be able to read it that well.

but that's besides the point, honestly, if you'd like cursive you could honestly do it yourself fairly easily in the generator- or there's probably a text engine for it somewhere.

However, I'll hear you out, what specifically would you need cursive for rather than other fonts aside from a cursive tutorial-?

thanks for your opinion, but i really like cursive and i think it can be good for thumbnails and ‘dramatic’ projects.

Yeah but you can always write it out yourself, you know? There are tons of fonts and such that Scratch could add but unfortunately Scratch can't add all of them. Cursive might be a good option- it's fairly different from the rest, but I'm still tentative on this suggestion.

In the editor, you can take the paintbrush and just write it out, though if you're using a mouse I admit it's a bit hard ^^'

Even I can barely read it. But I think OP wants cursive added so that way projects could look more professional.

I learned how to read it in second grade, mate. I don’t know what schools teach in Mexico, though…

Sure, most people learned how to read it at some point, but that doesnt mean they will remember how to in the future.

To add cursive to the editor, a font must be chosen. I have looked on the internet, and I have found some fonts the are available for personal and commercial use:
  • Noelan. It looks like handwritten cursive, and an image of Noelan can found here.
  • King Basil. It is taller than Noelan, and an image of King Basil can be found here.
  • Pacifico Regular. It is more neat looking than the others, and an image of it can be found here.

I still remember, despite very rarely using it, only doing it to sign my name on things, and I know a lot of people who still remember, and some write in cursive at school. I think it’s legible enough and well-understood by a very large amount of Scratchers, even if it’s not every single one, and if some don’t understand, they can just not use it, or even use this as an opportunity to learn to read cursive.

Yes… I only want to say that i am from poland and i speak polish that use diacritics symbols (ąćęłńóśżź). Lots of generators doesn't have that symbols and i often get something like this

apologies if this is considered necroposting, but a lot of font generators are blocked for some people. they aren't always easily accessed. I think cursive is a good idea, but maybe not insanely hard to read cursive–just some more dramatic font for different tones and projects.

EDIT: unaware this was from feb. sorry

Not necroposting if it is constructive in suggestions.

Adding cursive to Scratch

In third grade, I learned how to write in cursive. All that truly did was give way to my current writing style, which combines print and cursive. However, my handwriting is ~90-95% legible. Cursive on the other hand, not so much. It is usually rather difficult to read your average cursive font, so finding a font that is free to use (without much legal complications), >75% legible, and cursive in nature could prove somewhat difficult. Since this site is mainly kids, I seriously doubt that they'll have a wonderful time reading (or at least attempting to) cursive.

Semi-support

I Started learning how too wrote and read it in second grade but Covid..
So that could also be why a lot of people might not know how too read it
