How many of the problems this is trying to fix could be avoided by turning off comments? I also think a way to filter/sort messages would solve the other problems here… What makes this suggestion better than both of those fixes? Honest question.

It's true that the same effect is probably achieved, but this could be a little more preventative I guess?? Weak argument I know. The main advantage of this suggestion is that it frees up more space on Trending/the front page for other users.

The preventative part does sound interesting for people who wanted to avoid much attention at all for reasons beside the messages. I'm suspicious that people getting projects on the front page will choose to stop it, since lots of those projects seem to be designed with the main goal of getting lots of attention. Maybe different suggestions of spreading the fame around would be better…

I'm kind of leaning towards supporting here, as I've been front paged a few times and the attention can get tiring. Sometimes it's because of irrationally negative messages (e.g., stuff already specified in the instructions) and other times just because it's plain distracting. I can understand why some people might not want to be in the spotlight and can drive them to not doing their absolute best on the site.

I mean flashy thumbnails and making the types of projects that get in the front page a lot, platformers etc.

Nothing specific. Rework the front page in a different way? Feature more projects? Just saying that I don’t think this is the most effective way to go about it.

But No Support, because I think people in The Front Page would geht eben more hate, and people would write Things Like ‘Uh your so egoistic why do you keep Front paged on?’
