Mp4 sprite support
I was going to make a full length music video using an Mp4 as a sprite and it popped up a “sorry scratch was unable to load the sprite” and it set me back.
I am working on downloading the gifs and the Mp3 but can't we have Mp4 support?

Mp4 sprite support
I support. Mp4 is a lot better in terms of graphics and space than gifs. I was going to make a full length music video using an Mp4 as a sprite and it popped up a “sorry scratch was unable to load the sprite” and it set me back.

I do not!
1. Scratch is for programming, it is not youtube.
2. Space;
3. Think of the things it could do (Hate/ agenst guidlines)

Support. By uploading the Mp4 it should just add the soundtrack to the library, and upload the sprite as a sequence of frames in the same way it uploads .GIFs.
However, although I support I do not find the feature a necessity.

And so? It could just be another asset for programming no problem. I do not!

I think they should add mp4 support
I don't think this is in the ST interests, as you could easily upload space consuming videos.
I would ask in Advanced Topics, and see if anyone has made a user script, or could make one for you.

mp4 videos use alot of memory and dont forget the fps of videos. Good luck trying to upload a 60 fps animation into scratch

Mp4 sprite support
Yeah, that would make no sense, Scratch runs at fixed 30fps. Good luck trying to upload a 60 fps animation into scratch
You could convert an MP4 file into a buncha pictures and upload them.

Yeah, then we could upload 10 hours long movies in scratch, which would absolutely crash everything. No support.

Mp4 sprite support
The only use case I can imagine for this is for stealing videos from Youtube, or using Scratch as a video sharing platform, which appears to be what OP was trying to do. Scratch is not for video sharing. If you code your own video encoder and player, fair game, but if Scratch just let you upload videos it just wouldn't be about programming anymore.

I am not sure if this has been commented here before but there should be a file limit to how much space an .mp4 file would take up.
