integrate gradients into Scratch

hi! I don't really like how ‘flat’ the new Scratch 3.0 design is–sure, it may be clean, but I dig gradients, so I decided to:
- add gradients
- slightly modify some of the letters of the logo

logo comes in 4 variants:
- traditional 2.0
– traditional
– small
- traditional 3.0
– traditional
– small

here are the logos:

here is the homepage:

another mockup (thanks to @mybearworld:

I'd love to see what you think! I know the logos are minor and not all that noticeable–the gradients might seem hard to see, but look closely, especially at the outlines–hey, there are gradients!

I like classic 2.0 the most. Semi support - currently flat design is modern, though I dislike it as you do. Gradients seem a bit more playful than the flat design, so it's a bit more inviting for children. So, support in and of itself, but semi because flat design is “modern”…

yeah, I hate flat design. Glad to see a supporter. Scratch On

it would be cool to get a new scratch logo with cgi, (which makes it look kind of 2.5D) and better colors (i'm not saying your version is bad, i'm talking about the current logo.)

I don't like flatness. I support.

Semi support. Younger children like flat logos, but I dislike flat logos.

I, too, despise flat style in general. I haven't seen kids that like flat logos, but then again, I haven't seen kids at computers other than me (and my grown-up sister, but she doesn't count–she's 19)

yup, Scratch decided to get a flag logo, though, it's just not that good in my opinion.

what??? I'm not THAT advanced!!! better colours I can manage, just not CGI! I'm a game programmer (if you consider block coding programming), and maybe vector artist, but not a 3D-modeller!

yes, it's true that flat design is modern now and more clean/portable, but–most companies are starting to use rounded edges and gradients now, and Scratch needs to follow suit (not saying they don't already use rounded edges, but you won't find gradients on official Scratch stuff ANYWHERE).

edit: I'm a mockup monkey, so I made a mockup of how Scratch could integrate gradients to their designs:

Those mock ups look really neat, they are pretty comforting, you could fall asleep to it probably

yay! thanks! I'd thought this would get more and more un-supports (since it's a very minor edit), but it seems people like this! ^v^

here's how Scratch could make their new homepage using gradients and the new logo (i only used Inspect Element, so it's possible to create this)

yep, i also changed the favicon

edit: now included in OP

Unpopular opinion but no support. When I look at this, I think of something old when almost everything else is just flat. Everything about 3.0 looks flat so why should the logo have some depth? Just doesn't look very appealing to me at least. Other people seem to like it which is completely fine.

The problem is that since everyone decided at some point that flat colors are the future, the moment you put gradients and shading into the design, the website starts looking like it hasn't been updated in 15 years, which is unfortunate.

Here's another one of these mockups, but light mode:

Maybe you should rename this to “integrate gradients into scratch” or something? Adding gradients to the logo would be included in that suggestion, and we are talking more about gradients in general.

Scratch should embrace modern design, and this isn't modern. It doesn't go with 3.0 or the modern look, and a lot of graphics would have to be changed. As well, I prefer the current flat design.

I personally do not like the mockups, they look old fashioned and the gradients hurt my eyes.
