Look: None of the arguments against this are any good. they might sound good but to be honest, they're kinda laughable. If there are no numbers, it makes all of those names mean a lot more than a 100 or however many you have. If you really want to know how many followers you have, you should need to acknowledge every single person who likes your work rather than seeing a couple of icons and a number.

Let me ask you this: If you followed someone with 1000 followers, would you like to be seen as one small step to the next milestone of that scratcher in which they thank “you” but are really thanking a few digit on a colorful display of lights commonly known as a monitor, or would you like to be seen as a real person who that scratcher needs to specifically look at in order to figure out how many people appreciate what they do?
I know my answer.

1. You're completely avoiding the main point of the post, presumably because you know I'm right but still don't want to lose the argument.
2. Yes they are.

I am one of griffpatch's 10000+ followers. There, I said it. I'm not unhappy with being so, nor am I going to complain that “he has to many and it doesn't matter if he had 10 followers.” Nobody should know about griffpatch's great achievement? (Well, after all of the commotion about it dies down. )
How is that an achievement? I thought this was a programming site, not a collect followers site. If you are desperate for followers, I suggest you get banned, make a g+ account, and get people to follow you there.

I'm not even allowed to have a G+ account, nor would I want one. Also, you can't program on G+. Also also, G+ doesn't have a swear filter. Also also also, Scratch is awesome. I would never cause that much drama. That would also wreck my reputation.

welllll, maybe on april fools. :P xD (although I wouldn't actually pretend to get banned or do anything destructive… :P)

I'm just trying to convince the admins here to re-implement the numbers, as I feel like Scratch became worse with that update.

For example: Silvershimmer43 is one of the popular scratchers and reached 2000+ Followers. How would I feel if she will never know again where 3000+ is? Seriously, most Scratchers just go on RPGs and make art, and if this continues, there will be a downfall leading to the end.

I like the update ONLY for the comments due to people posting SPAM on people's profiles, but that is just it. Keep following and comment numbers off and leave Followers happy.

In other words, I'll leave it to you. Give us happiness or give us failure!

~PJ9, Lonekat, Bladefang, Flarepelt, and my other characters along with my 100 followers (except 10 quit)

Just press the View All button. Only takes one click.
That would be A LOT of page flipping, but it should be easy. ^.^

Out of all Scratch history, this has to be the worst update. If you could just click view all why not just save us all some time and just take out this update. And really, I wouldn't rather see a person's project with 10,000 followers than someone who doesn't have a singer follower. And the comment thing? Really? If you can't see the number of comments just take out commenting. Just take it out. I don't care. >:-(
This sucks.
PLZ TAKE OUT THIS UPDATE!!!

It is mean. Just cuz someone has 10 followers doesn't mean they are a bad quality scratcher. It just means that they are unknown.
It's not mean. It's known that people with better projects generally attract more followers.

This is what people do when they don't have a better argument but they still want to win. They try to make the opponent look bad. In this case, you have attempted this by acting like my points are funny because they are so bad (which they are not). This is actually a tactic used by bullies to gather support. Not saying you are one, just pointing out that saying what you replied isn't a very good thing to do.

Hey everyone,

You might notice your profile page looks a little bit different. Profile pages no longer display the number of Followers and Following. (You can still view this information by clicking the ‘View All’ button on the Followers / Following panel.) The number of profile comments are no longer displayed too.

Why do this? We want to make sure people see someone’s projects, studios, and connections and not focus too much on the numbers. After all, it doesn’t matter if you have 10 followers or 10,000. Scratch is a place for creating, collaborating, and supporting fellow Scratchers.

The Scratch Mentors put together an awesome remix project about “What is the meaning of followers?” http://scratch.mit.edu.ezproxyberklee.flo.org/projects/25999074/ Check it out and see how other Scratchers think about followers! Feel free to share your thoughts too!

I agree! i love that change.
Personally, this is NOT my favorite update, because i know that some scratchers would like to see their hard-earned followers.

Ah, we've actually been discussing something like this! It could be more or less a page of statistics for each account. What would you like to see on this page?

I'd like to see today's statistics, a comparison of today's statistics to yesterday's statistics, and overall statistics of the account.

More specifically, I'd like to see:
  • Number of messages during the timespan
  • Follows during the the timespan
  • Loves and favorites during the timespan

Also, maybe there could be more customization for profiles? Like setting a background image (or color), selecting what will be on the “What I've been doing” section, and choosing different layouts.

Ahh. I just spoke with Natalie on the Scratch team who mentioned the idea.

It turns out the idea was more focused on statistics around projects such as blocks used or perhaps other milestones like ‘remixed a project.’ Not so much on Followers and Love Its / Favorites. So, I apologize for misspeaking!

But, I do think it's interesting to hear your suggestion on being more aware of what is going with those statistics.

Something else I would like to see on the Statistics page would be the number of comments, perhaps pageviews. It helps to track activity and conversations, and it wouldn't be too much of a hassle if it were on this page. Of course, I would still personally have this entire update (excluding the necessary parts) reversed, but I will wait and see…

So, yes: Comments, pageviews.

And… what? It's not focused on fame, but having others view your projects is an aspect. There is a huge difference
