Comment Reply Limit: "Link a new thread"

I did some research and didn't found any topic suggesting this. If anyone finds one, please link it here and I will close this one. Thanks!

Hello fellow Scratchers! I made this topic to suggest a new feature added to comments. Read more below!

Introduction
Recently, the ST updated the studios to “match the look and feel of other Scratch 3.0 pages”. (source).
Some limits have been added, for example, studios can only have 40 managers, only the owner can edit the title, description, and thumbnail…
Well, in this topic we'll focuse in this one: The reply limit. A comment can only have 25 replies.

How does the alert looks like when a comment has reached the limit

What's the problem with this?
The role-players usually answer below the same comment. But not just role-players, some people have big things to discuss! Because of that, I had an idea (suggestion) to at least improve a bit this system.

My suggestion
My suggestion is add a new button to the alert, it would be “Link a new thread”. What would it do? It will add a comment saying something like "[This is an automated message] Hey! We have reached the reply limit. Continue the discussion here: {new comment link}". Although that the comment will have 26 replies, I think is a good addition to the alert. It would be a clickable button, that leads to post a pre-made comment like I said before.

Mockup A:

Mockup B:

The “Linked comment” text would be a link that leads to the original discussion.

Why this?
This would make role-plays (and other things) easier, by linking one comment to another. I think that with this system, Scratch will run quickly and smoothly (the purpose of adding a limit) and we can keep our conversations organized.
Pros & Cons

Pros:
  • Scratch will run quickly and smoothly, like you want.
  • Our conversations will be organized.
Cons:
  • May confuse New Scratchers.
  • Studios will have more comments.
Other people also suggested…
  • “Perhaps after linking, it could display a text like: ‘This comment thread has reached its limit. It has been continued here.’ This way people won't have multiple links to the same comment, and could help clear up confusion.” -@mitdk

Feel free to add to the discussion! :)

Support. I've seen a lot of complaints about this limit, and this would be a great solution to it. while it would keep the general idea of the ST's limit, it would also help scratchers get to a new thread fast. Perhaps after linking, it could dis play a text like:
'This comment thread has reached its limit. It has been continued here.'
This way people won't have multiple links to the same comment, and could help clear up confusion. Also, i'm assuming that an input for the link will show up when you click ‘link a new thread’?

That's a good idea! Adding to the OP.

I'm not sure what do you mean… could you explain?

Like you could post a new comment, and then get its link and paste it in that prompt?

I think it could work like this: you click link a new thread then immediately start writing a new comment to be the thread. Then the button could be called create a new thread and the comment would be linked right after you posted it.

Oh, yes, thanks for explaining!

I have a few questions.

1. Who can link threads?

2. How would this confuse new scratchers?

3. What would happen if people linked to different comments at (relatively) the same time? Would it be the first one that's submitted that goes through? What would be the error that shows when it doesn't go through?

4. Do you realize how much of a brilliant idea this is?

Now, onto a clarification.

The reply limit does not include the original comment, (the comment at the top of the thread) so it is 25 replies. The 26 is a technicality.

I think she meant the automatic reply.

But… that doesn't actually count, as it's an automatic message that appears underneath the 25th reply, it's not actually a reply.

Support! This would be an incredibly useful for roleplays, conversations, etc.
In addition to linking it, perhaps instead of appearing as a comment under the limit notification, it could appear as part of it after you've created and linked a new thread?
This comment thread has reached its limit. Click here to go to the continued thread.
It would be great if it also notified everyone in the thread that a new one had been started, perhaps even just making the first comment in the new thread appear in the members' messages just like a reply.

Heavily support!

This would make it so much easier to go around studios with us now having to create new comments every time our thread reaches 25.
As said by others, this would become SO useful to roleplayers, friends who just chat a lot, and probably more.

After all, increasing the reply limit is 99.999% rejected due to server reasons and stuff I don't understand.

How would you get the comment link? If you’re just clicking on it, perhaps you need to reword li not .

I think this is a great way for discussions in studios to stay organised, as people would now understand the context of the new thread if they clicked on this. I am not sure about a new comment however - I think when someone links a new thread, there would just be a note on the limit saying “the new thread for this discussion is here” in the same place where the original “link a new thread” button is.

That was what i was suggesting:
