Don't Message Users for Bumps
It's really annoying to get like 10 forum alerts and they're all just from someone writing, “Bump.” I think that if someone is just bumping a topic, you shouldn't be alerted because the only real point of alerts is to tell you when someone says something on the thread.
I don't know quite how this would work but maybe if the message is less than 25 letters and contains the phrase “bump” in it, you wouldn't be alerted.

Support, even though I barely see anyone bump a topic anymore. In the topics I check, at least.

No support. Sometimes the purpose of a bump is simply to send an alert to people following the topic.

Bumping is when people want to “bump” their topic to the top of the wiki. I do see your point though, these people could just right something that doesn't say “Bump” but instead “I made some changes, take a look” or something like that. No support. Sometimes the purpose of a bump is simply to send an alert to people following the topic.

What do you mean? Like how it would be coded or what the requirements it would be to not be alerted. I was thinking it might be better to only filter out messages that say “Bump” and we could just make it forum etiquette to write that when bumping. Support.
How would it be done though?

That would be nice, but I would say that if you check it all your message can be is “Bump.” This would make it so that year old topics won't be turned into chat rooms because no one can see them on the front page.Or maybe have a checkbox.Support. That's what I meant. If a post is marked as a bump, no messages are sended. If the topic owner just wanted to remind the topic's followers, he don't have to check it.Or maybe have a checkbox.Support. If you mean someone who “Bumps” posts, sometimes. There's nothing wrong with bumping, but notifications are annoying.Aren't you a “Bumper”? Support, but I can't see how the Scratch Team could do this easily.
