Sure, but if it only downloads normal text files, not program files and it asks you if you would like to download it and the project gives a reason, this can be prevented.

that text file could be a batch/shell script, powershell script, vbscript, python script, etc, disguised as a normal text file.

Maybe all files could be scanned with a scanner that recognizes scripts of program, then scanned with a virus and worm scanner.

It has many uses, like save game data for paper Minecraft, save game data for platformers, real saving for os simulators, real saving for all games, and real saving for text editors.

still very insecure and easy to exploit, and the block isn't really of any use anyway.

also, something like this would make more sense if it were saved to your scratch account, or if it used localstorage

you mean uploaded, right? and it wouldn't make any sense to use files like that. user variables would be better.

There should be a notice before someone downloads it, and it shows the file name, and a preview. Like this:

scratch.mit.edu wants to download:

This should only be able to download text, not anything else. Also, if a list is going to be downloaded, there should be an option to download it as a .txt file or a .csv file.

Download to Scratch's servers? People could spam that and I don't see why anyone would want to do that.
