Online ScratchCon

Let's start a petition for scratch to make a scratch-con(where scratchers get to meet other scratchers at one place, online. There is already a Minecon(minecraft), and VidCon(youtube)). Why can't we do it? I think it would be cool for scratchers to talk to other scratchers together and see everyone online, see your favorite animators, take pictures with your favorite scratchers, and yeah! Now, you would have like a nametag(your username, not your real name), so people know who you are. However, if that would be hard, we could organize an online ScratchCon! Let me know your views

That would not be a good idea due to face reveals which are against guidelines and I don’t think anyone wants to share their face because there is more kids than adults on this platform.
Mostly adults would go to scratch con because kids don’t have a car yet. I don’t think they can enforce a no face policy that is on their site IN REAL LIFE.

i don't think an online scratch convention would ever happen because of a suggestion post
but a suggestion post also got urban dictionary added to the filter so basically anything can happen

Firstly, I don't support. Because it is unnecesary, and could be dangerous if children tell stalkers on the Scratch website that they're going.

p.s.

1, beds, nice house, cars, are unnecessary. Yet we still have them. 2, how do you differentiate the scratcher and the real person? If children tell a stalker, what harm would that be? If they wanted to harm the scratcher, then it would be a little hard to do that.

But those things actually serve a practical purpose, Also, I honestly can't believe you think children talking to weird stalkers is harmless. Furthermore, most of the people on Scratch are kids/teens, being 10-15, so it would be a bit weird that they would be talking to people they don't know, such as STALKERS.

so that we can get to know each other better, we don't have to give out personal information, it might also be a chance to get some poor scratchers projects and profiles at least slightly better known

The difference between Scratch, Minecraft (mostly), and YouTube is that the latter two are for entertainment, while Scratch is for education. This not only goes against the privacy policy of Scratch, but it also doesn't benefit Scratch.

This makes it seem like Scratch is all about fame, which is the complete opposite of what Scratch is really about (education).

Stalkers as in scratchers, or people from other websites? People from other websites are bad, yes, and shouldent be talked to. The ST can put up a notice, but what you do in real life, like maybe you go on dischord or something and tell the people there, its none of scratch's business. If hey don't know about online safety, thats THEIR FAULT

The point is, to talk to others, and achieve their dreams of finally getting to see each other in one place! Even though their cameras are off, we still get to talk to each other. WOuldent it be cool?

I feel so down. Does everyone now in scratch really overly obsessed with the safety and practicality of the online world? Of course, online safetey is great, but having an online scratchcon is a desirable! We cant share personal info on scratch, and that is understandable, so the scratch team can at LEAST organize this. C'mon guys. I know online safety is good, but lets not exaggerate it
