Block the right to left override character
The title is “Block the right to left override character”.
Some people use it to get through the filter, so I guess it would be good to block it. I don't know how many cons this would have, but it has at least one pro.
If you don't know what it is, it makes text go right to left instead of the usual left to right. Just search up “right to left override”

Maybe there should be a special detector for that kind of character, but that sounds like a lot of work to implement and I don't know how many people get any legitimate use out of this character. Unless someone can show otherwise, I don't think it would hurt anyone to filter this out.

XD @World_Languages has a project on this… and I found a topic months ago with this done to the title (I think fdreerf made it?) while looking for something else
It looked pretty funny on the Google results. Sadly I don't think I saved the topic.
I've used it a fair amount myself in comments, mostly in inactive and/or quiet places… but never to spam, and never on the forums. It could be used to get past the filter though, so maybe it could detect if the character is in the comment and if so, then check all the current blacklisted words backwards in all the text after the character, since I know you can put normal text before the symbol starts anything. This might be somewhat hard to add, but I don't think it would be that hard… I don't think the character should be blocked entirely though. And when I wrote the last regular sentence in this post just today, this was one of the things I had in mind.

New Achievement! : Broken topic title
No, seriously, you broke the title

So basically making the filter also detect bad words typed right to left?
Support!

Support. There is no reason why we should use this character, other than bypass the filter and break the website.
edit: now that i think about it, this could break scratch for other languages. they will not be able to talk just because their language is right-to-left. semi-support maybe????

I think the intended use for this character is to force text that is supposed to be read right to left like Hebrew and Arabic into their proper order. Not sure how often it's used for this purpose by the people who speak these languages but it seems important. Unless someone can show otherwise, I don't think it would hurt anyone to filter this out.

If this is the case, then this might become a problem in the near future. If the character becomes more known, there will definitely be trolls who just constantly create topics with it. I don't think there's really a way to fliter it if it gets used in other languages - a filter that would have to recognize all languages except ones like Hebrew and Arabic would just be too complicated - so this might be a thing that will have to manually moderated. But I still do think there needs to be a way more feasible way of blocking it.

Yeah, honestly I half-figured something like that. Maybe as a hacky workaround it would disable the filter against this depending on your selected language, but I don't know if that would be good enough.I think the intended use for this character is to force text that is supposed to be read right to left like Hebrew and Arabic into their proper order. The most hacky workaround, the most effective and the one with the least collateral damage would just be putting backwards versions of the most common words the filter blocks. Yeah, honestly I half-figured something like that. I agree that this is probably the best implementation. The most hacky workaround, the most effective and the one with the least collateral damage would just be putting backwards versions of the most common words the filter blocks. Is nobody going to mention that this doesn't actually work to bypass the filter? The character's effects are purely cosmetic - it doesn't actually do anything else to the text written after it.
Or are you talking about pasting in the character and then typing the text in reverse, so it appears forwards (which doesn't appear to work either)?

I don't even know… how you even did that
Anyways, it's so hard to read… that I don't see the purpose to add this…
Also you literally broke the pages:

They already do that with most bad words that come to mind (straight bad words, not workarounds)The most hacky workaround, the most effective and the one with the least collateral damage would just be putting backwards versions of the most common words the filter blocks. No support - RTL is fun
If “hearing” was a bad word, I heared that “gniraeh” would be detected.
So <U+202E>gniraeh", looking like gniraeh
wouldn't trick the filter.
