United Kingdom
If this happened, I think we'd still need to keep the United Kingdom location, as well as possibly adding a Great Britain one, as some English, Scottish, and Welsh people may want to be called “British” or “from the UK”.
Changing from “What country do you live in?” to “What location do you live in?” would complement this.
(I'd just like to point out that the UK is actually a country; it just houses several smaller countries.)

No support. Technically, the UK is a country as well as Ireland. Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, etc; are just parts of the UK. The only countries in that area of the world is UK and Ireland.

Though, I would say its just best to have them individually and then have the UK as an option still for those who want to still be recognized as a citizen of the United Kingdom

And yes, the United Kingdom is technically a country. It's just split up into four smaller countries.

I'd like to settle this once and for all.

Even though it's made out of several separate countries, the United Kingdom is still a country of its own. Sure, splitting its separate parts in the location dropdown would be nice, but we don't need to remove the UK from it afterwards.

the 4 nations that make it up are also countries in their own right and have a certain extent of autonomy. The page… actually says they are separate nations. Although the UK is a fully independent sovereign state,

Look at this:

Notice how it says, “Location”.
That small, string of text in the top left of our profiles is supposed to represent our location. Not country, state, nation, or anything else.
Whether the UK is a country or not, it doesn't matter. But what does matter is the fact that it's a location. Just like Antarctica is a location, or the Virgin Islands is a location, or the Isle of Man is a location, or anything that is in that list when we create our profiles. So that's why it's there.
But England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are also locations. So really, whether they get on the list or not, it's up to the Scratch Team. But seeing as they rarely change the list, they probably won't add those.
If you are, say, English, and your location is set to United Kingdom, then what's the problem? The information is correct. If you really want to state you live in specifically England, because that's important to you, and not any of the other countries in the UK, then you can just say so on your About Me.
Just like if you have your location set to the United States of America, but you want to say you live in Washington, you can just say so on your About Me. Your location is still objectively correct, though.
Edit: I am now just realizing that while the list says, “Location,” on your Account Settings, it might say “Country,” when you create an account, in which case, that should definitely be changed to “Location,” as well.
Edit 2: Yup, I found out that my above statement is correct:

That better be changed, then.

I will admit, saying that it is a location is a good point. But some may want to express there actual location, or maybe a group. I still want UK split up, but with UK still being there, maybe along with continents, and others like ‘Carribien Islands’ Look at this:

I do agree that UK should not be removed, read my post above ^ about that. I'd like to settle this once and for all.

It is not a country, it is a group of countries that are not independant

YOUR Country? It's shared, not just owned by one person. How dare a children's programming site group two groups with a deep rivalry under the same de facto banner on their location tag which is very tiny and in the top-left corner of my profile page!!! How disrespectful!!! I can. I am the sort of person who demands respect.
Now can we please get back on topic.

I'm not going to pretend to fully understand or have a very strong opinion on this debate but can't you say the same thing about states of the USA? They also “have a certain extent of autonomy,” with separate laws, cultures, etc.the 4 nations that make it up are also countries in their own right and have a certain extent of autonomy. The page… actually says they are separate nations. No support. Google Maps doesn't split it, so why should Scratch? Besides, you can just put it in your About Me.
