Disclaimer: What I’m about to say is controversial. But it needs to be said.

Lately I have seen an uptake in “subtle homophobic” projects and comments. The idea that if Christians treat LGBTQIA+ people like decent human beings, they are not homophobic.

The problem arises with the other half of the sentence. “I’m not homophobic BUT…”

But….they say “Marriage was made by God to be between a man and a woman, the Bible says Homosexuality is a sin”. And they always call it “Homosexuality” the strange and the other. And they go on to say “But Homosexuals are people too, and I LOVE them. And GOD LOVES THEM.”

Yet how can they claim to love me when they cannot love who I love?

How can they claim that position when they think that my very existence is a sin?

And they say “We are all sinners”.

But no, I may have sinned, but not for loving who I love. That will never been a sin as long as it is legal and consented.

And yet people never oppose them. They APPLAUD them for “not being like other Christians” for “Loving everyone”. And yet seeing these things, I could cry. Because I do not feel loved, or supported, but most of all, I can never make them see that.

I agree in religious freedom. But when you use your religion to invalidate other people AND claim you also love them just “don’t support their lifestyle” it HURTS. I don’t know these people and it hurts.

So this is why this sort of thing should be far heavily moderated. Religious and political freedom is something we experience on Scratch, but not at the expense of others.

just report them

I hate to sound like I'm ignoring the issue , but to continue what the2000 said, if you feel like something is sublty homophobic you could always report it or possibly contact the ST (?) if you feel like this situation requires some explanation.

The problem is that doesn’t work?

A project claiming I needed to find Jesus to stop liking girls was put in the Propose to be featured studio yesterday. Like- added to it. It included the “god loves you” banter of course, but the general message was gay is a sin, you defy God blah blah blah.

Basically, people have no issue with these things.

Proof? Scratch Team is pretty left-leaning, I heavily doubt that they're ignoring reports about this.

scratch is not based on the bible if that helps

My biggest proof is that this project ended up added to a scratch team run studio. As well as the fact I’ve reported these and they never get taken down. I’m only posting here out of desperation to try to get the attention of some people, because reporting hasn’t been effective.

Members of the Scratch Team are not at all the only people who can add projects to that studio.

Also, are you trying to argue that Scratch Team is more right-leaning than left? If so then good luck.

No, no I do not think that. I just think that the modding has been lackluster.

Anyways, I don’t want to argue about reporting policies, I just wanted people to be more aware of this problem.

Those are our views as Christians and under the community guidelines must be respected. No support.

My suggestion was to bring more awareness to this problem, and make stricter rules around it, as reporting isn’t deterring people from saying these things with little reprimand.

That's not a suggestion. A suggestion would be, for example, a system to combat prejudice on the Scratch website.

Also, this is exactly what I was talking about, my livelihood is not up for debate. It is not something you can have a “view” on. If you think it is is sin or against God, you’re being homophobic. Being homophobic is more than harassing people for their sexuality, it’s also “not supporting but still loving” and “I have gay friends I just don’t agree with their lifestyle”. My “lifestyle” is me being alive.

Well maybe the filter should be optional then.
