Hello everyone! We would like to answer some frequently asked questions about the Scratch Design Studio. If you don't know what the Scratch Design Studio is, here's a Scratch Wiki article explaining what it is. If you have any questions that aren't listed below, feel free to post them here, or you can post them in the comment section of the current SDS. Just look for the “Scratch Design Studio” row on the Scratch homepage.

- The SDS Curators

1: How do I add a project to the SDS?
If you want to add a project to the SDS, just post a link in the comment section of the SDS and it will be reviewed soon

2: How do I become a SDS Curator or SDS Helper?
We have an entire project about how SDS Curators and Helpers are selected which can be found here.

3: Why can't I have multiple projects in the SDS?
Projects that get added to the Scratch Design Studio show up on the “Scratch Design Studio” row on the Scratch Homepage, and we want to make sure that everyone's project has a chance to get on the front page. This is why we only allow people to submit one project to the SDS.

4: Why do all projects have to be shared no earlier than one month before the start of the SDS?
The SDS is supposed to inspire creativity, therefore we only allow projects shared no earlier than one month before the start of the SDS to be added so that scratchers will be inspired to create new projects instead of using old projects.

5: Can you feature my projects?
The short answer is no. The Scratch Design Studio team cannot feature your projects. The long answer is that we can provide an opportunity for your project to reach the front page. The fourth row on the home page is known as the “Scratch Design Studio” row, which randomly selects 20 projects from the current Scratch Design Studio to be front-paged in the row upon page refresh.

In addition to this, it is possible for a project created for the SDS to be featured, but we can't feature it. It would have to go through the normal featuring process.

6: Why did someone reply to my comment but not add my project?
If someone replied to your comment but didn't add your project, it could be for a variety of reasons. Your project might not have fit the requirements for the SDS. Alternatively, someone who is striving to become an SDS Helper might have reviewed you project, but wasn't able to add it because they aren't a curator yet. If neither of these is the reason, someone might have just forgotten to add it. If this is the case, please politely reply to their comment to remind them to add the project.

7: I'm not sure if my project fits the theme. What should I do?
If you aren't sure if your project fits the theme, feel free to submit it anyway. A curator will review your project and see if it is suitable to be added. If it is, they will add it, and if not, they might give feedback on how you could change the project to make it fit the theme and be eligible.

8: Why is it taking so long to add my project?
SDS Helpers and Curators lead busy lives. We don't always have time to add projects right after they are submitted. Please be patient while waiting for your project to be added and don't double post the link, as that only creates more work for us.

Thanks for the help! However, we actually have a moratorium on guides/stickies/iTopics at the moment — any guides created after August 13th 2020 will be closed. It is also not evident to me that the old topic needed to be recreated, but with something like the SDS, I imagine it would be useful to have such an FAQ topic be updated regularly.

I am going to close this topic, and then report it to have a moderator look at it. Either it will be iTopic'd, or it will be stickied, or the topic will just stay closed.

Re-opening the topic because it is indeed helpful, has already gotten Scratch Team approval, and apparently I don't know what an iTopic is.

Indeed, this guide may stay open. However, the moratorium on guides is still in place — to anyone else who reads this, please do not make guides in the forum unless you have Scratch Team approval.
