Report Featured Project on a Profile

I've seen plenty of inappropriate or downright scary featured projects, and they use a trick that allows you to feature an unshared project. They use animated thumbnails of inappropriate things.

I mean, sure, you can use Contact Us – but by then, the users almost always change their featured project, and the Scratch Team doesn't really get why you contacted them. If I explain, there's not much they can do, since it was already fixed.

However, I've been seeing them around in lots of places – and it's much quicker to have a Report feature. That way, the Scratch Team can see why I contacted them much faster. I'm not new to reporting things. I know they are much faster than using Contact Us.

If it's faster, that means the Scratch Team can take action faster.

This has led me to conclude that a button as a new option in “Report this profile”, with an option to report a featured project, would be efficient.

It's simple! Here's a mockup (and the “featured project” part is bolded and circled for your eyes to notice easily):

Or go to the project itself and report it. That is what I'm thinking.

Support. Featured projects can be scary or inappropriate and if there's no option to report it then people might get away with inappropriate stuff.

I suggest you take a screenshot as evidence when using contact us

You cannot report the project if it is unshared, and I think they are referring to an unshared project. You can have an unshared project featured on your profile.

I'm referring to unshared projects, and they use some trick with the console that allows them to feature the unshared project, with the thumbnail being something inappropriate.

Even if I did, they won't be able to take action. Most users change them to something else in a few weeks, or even a few days. If it has changed, there's nothing much they can do.

Sure, we could use Contact Us. Heck, if you're no supporting a new report feature, why not throw the report system all away, anyway? After all, instead of reporting profiles, reporting studios, reporting projects, reporting forum posts, we could all just use Contact Us. Feel free to see that these inappropriate content will be taken down in the next few months.

Yep, I've seen my fair share of these projects and there should definitely be an option to report them. Considering how hard it is to get the Scratch Team to warn the user (since the user can just change it), this should definitely be a feature.

I believe the ST can see unshared projects, you could click the thumbnail, get the URL and put it in the email, then the ST can alert/ban the user

Even if that happened, I believe this would be better than using contact us, I've used contact us, let's say 10 times, and I've probably gotten response about 6/10 of those times, the other 4 got resolved before they replied which they didn't.
Plus, whenever you contact the ST to report people, they tell you to use the report button, so I don't see why in this case they would tell you to do something different than the norm for inappropriate content, what's so special about featured projects?

We could just disable featuring featured projects, but then people would have to keep banners etc. shared

I don't feel comfortable having those scary and inappropriate images saved onto my device. I'd much rather tell the Scratch Team, and never visit that profile ever again.

You're missing the bigger picture: If the featured project is already changed, there isn't much they can do to warn the user, even if you have evidence.

Plus, it takes them forever to respond to these messages. If you want to use Contact Us literally any time you report any inappropriate content, feel free to see it taken down within the next few months, when they could take it down within the hour if you have a report system behind it.

It's just the project URL

Strong Support

The easiest way to implement this is to add it to the reasons to report a profile. But of course, sometimes it isn't specific enough, so it could compliment this topic. The process of reporting the featured project could then be similar to reporting a regular project, except without the 2nd page of report options.

I have reported six things with Contact Us and all of them I got a response and the situation was dealt with in two days.

The last time I used Contact Us was two weeks ago.

You sound lucky.

Why not just throw out the whole report system, then? After all, it's not like there's a difference between fixing things in a few hours or less (typically done by the report system) and fixing them in a few days (Contact Us).
