Support! When I first started Scratch, I thought it was only for letters.

My opinion: ‘letter’ is shorter than ‘character’ and gets the point across.

^ Yeah, I think this is where I am leaning right now. I think that “letter” is a much more friendly sounding word than “character” and, as you said, gets the point across. I think that users advanced enough to know the difference will be able to understand it as wording chosen to be easy to understand for the less experienced.

I agree with this. Using the word “characters” on the technical side, and sometimes minors won't understand. Pseudocode uses the word “letters” than characters because it's a non-computer term. Scratch is usually for beginners and minors if we put it educationally so using simple terms is ideal.
