Change (letter () of ()) to (character () of ())
Support for this reason and that the owner is good at writing. I'd like to say that in german it'sZeichen () von () :: operators reporterwhat meanscharacter () of () :: operators reporter
So I'd like consistency - so support!
Edit: Queen of the page!

Support! When I first started Scratch, I thought it was only for letters.

My opinion: ‘letter’ is shorter than ‘character’ and gets the point across.

^ Yeah, I think this is where I am leaning right now. I think that “letter” is a much more friendly sounding word than “character” and, as you said, gets the point across. I think that users advanced enough to know the difference will be able to understand it as wording chosen to be easy to understand for the less experienced. My opinion: ‘letter’ is shorter than ‘character’ and gets the point across.

I agree with this. Using the word “characters” on the technical side, and sometimes minors won't understand. Pseudocode uses the word “letters” than characters because it's a non-computer term. Scratch is usually for beginners and minors if we put it educationally so using simple terms is ideal.^ Yeah, I think this is where I am leaning right now. I support, although “character” is something most children are unfamiliar with, I'd prefer it looking like:
letter or symbol or number () of () :: operators :: reporter

That looks blocky, long, and weird. I prefer character. I support, although “character” is something most children are unfamiliar with, I'd prefer it looking like:letter or symbol or number () of () :: operators :: reporter

Support. The workaround is annoying to code and takes up space.

No. Children can learn. They don't need everything simplified. I support, although “character” is something most children are unfamiliar with, I'd prefer it looking like:letter or symbol or number () of () :: operators :: reporter

I mean… Well we could- i mean ehhhh
I don't really see a point in it.
I get the concept but its not really well useful?
Semi-Support. I'm not dismissing it.

Did you really have to put that? (reference to bolded text)That sucks. I didn't get to see any counterargument. You're really gonna take that? Be better. Be vegan.Ah, crud, you're right. Everything I have said is now null and void due to this argument. I admit defeat and concede now; you have won! but letter makes me say ewwwwww

only if it includes female characters
Support, this is really useful for clarity. Only a-z are letters, the rest are characters.

Support. The current name implies it works just for letters, but thats not the case.
