A private censor list.
I came up this suggestion when reading TOLORS 6.7.
This would allow the user to have a list of words that would be censored when they appear.
You could not change the standard list nor see the words on it.
This would allow the site to be more friendly and usable by all.
Maybe if a parent/guardian set the words you would have to enter a password to protect children from seeing the words.

Basically, there's a list of words that the user can add to which get censored (probably by asterisks or something). So what exactly are you saying?
For example, if I don't want to see the word “hi”, the phrase.
“Hi there Scratcher!”
would be changed to
“** there Scratcher!”

What effect would this have exactly? The only benefit I see here is for Anti-LGBT and similar people to censor stuff like “gay”.
Bad words are already not allowed on scratch. I don’t see the need to censor anything else.

There's some bad words that aren't censored, but some still might find them offensive. What effect would this have exactly? The only benefit I see here is for Anti-LGBT and similar people to censor stuff like “gay”.

Strong support. Although I probably will not use this, it would be nice if you could censor certain words.
And while I'm here, I would like to bring up the fact that people might block certain usernames. How?
It could get confusing if you blocked certain usernames. But otherwise, strong support.

@MisterCheese, who has censored the word MrEgg, sees: Hey, whatever happened to @MrEgg?
Hey, whatever happened to @*****?

I don't think MrEgg is the username @MisterCheese should be censoring…

Each user would have their own list of words to censor, and they would be protected from the words that are on it when they register because they can only add to the list, not change it. So what exactly are you saying?

Why would this be restricted to projects? Well, what other projects have words to censor?

The suggestion is basically saying there's a list of words. Say you have a fear of the word “cupcake,” then you can go to settings, change that list and write the word cupcake. Then, someone commenting “Hi, I like cupcakes!” Will show up as something like“Hi, I like (Censored by your request)!”

Would it work with other characters? Ex. someone wrote cupcakes! and you censored cupcakes would it still work?

So like this?: if you want to censor out scratch.mit.edu/projects/ on anything it would look like asterisks?

How did this lead to private messaging. It literally makes no sense unless you just read it wrong. As yeetoburro1 said: How “picking words to censor” means “private messaging”. Private messaging definition: A personal message, private message, direct message, or personal chat is a private communication channel between users on any given platform. Unlike public posts, PMs are only viewable by the participants. PMs have grown in popularity due to the increasing demand for privacy and collaboration on social media.
How does picking words to censor have anything to do with that exactly? If you are going to pick a word to censor its just going to put it in asterisks and no one else can see them it is your list and your list only.(Asterisks is what I think it might look like but it could look way different from asterisks)
