'Illegal' bump warning (please read suggestion)
I'm suggesting a warning to people who bump while their topic is still on the first page or it has 24 since the last post, whichever comes first. Pretty self explanatory.
It would also find words similar to bump like: Bring Up My Post, bumped, bumping, TTTthanks to @leahcimto etc.
If a post has the word “bump” and more than 1 sentence, it will not warn you. If it has more than a sentence, It's likely constructive. “This is a bump.” would be detected, while “I think you should make this bigger and less bold. Also, bump.” wouldn't be detected.
It obviously wouldn't detect photos saying bump, that would be hard to make. People can still tell them, but this would reduce the number of ‘illegal’ bumps.
Also, if you click submit 2 times, it'll let your post go through. If somebody presses again to make a bump go through, they obviously read the warning.

It would detect “bump” or something similar, see if it's on the first page or if the last post was more than 24 hours ago, and then give you a warning to not bump. How would this function?

sounds good. No need to be perfect at detecting bumps, just only for OP right?

What confuses me is; how would the detector detect a bump when an image is used like the following to represent a bump?:

It doesn't have to be perfect. People can tell him, my suggestion is just the first line of warning. What confuses me is; how would the detector detect a bump when an image is used like the following to represent a bump?:

Even if it was able to detect phrases similar to “bump” like “bring up my post”, it still wouldn't take very long for people to come up with workarounds. For example, “move this topic up” conveys the same idea, or “bring up this topic”, or even deliberate misspellings like “bmup”, “bumump”, or “BBBBUUUUUUMMMMMPPPP”. If I'm going to be honest, that sounds like something I'd do, and it would only take a few seconds.
Also, how would this detector differentiate between an actual bump and a post that talks about bumping? If it only detects a post that contains “bump” and nothing else, I could easily fool it by posting “I'm going to bump this post up now” or "speed bumps sure are cool right“. On the other hand, if it filtered out any post that contained ”bump", it would affect any post, even legitimate ones that discuss bumping or just happen to have the word bump.

I think this is a good idea, but it should also filter TTT (To the top) even though it is not commonly usedi am probably the only one who ever uses it lol

I think this would be too hard to implement. There are countless workarounds, such as these:
Bump, bump, bump, bump, [insert bump image here], bumppppppp, bumpbumpbumpbump, bbbuuummmpppp, etc.
(quote this post to see how some of them would be possible)
I know it doesn't have to be perfect, but it's too easy. It would be like if the bad word detector only detected exact spellings of words, hardly effective.

They could not allow posts that only have images. What confuses me is; how would the detector detect a bump when an image is used like the following to represent a bump?:

This might be nitpicky, but I'd argue this isn't necessarily true. Someone new to the forums might choose to format their post like But if they find workarounds, they obviously know the bump rules.
when green flag clicked
forever
say [BUMP]
end
and if that's not specifically blacklisted as well, they'll have found a workaround without knowing the conventions regarding bumping. I can even imagine people saying “BBBBBUUUUUUUMMMPPP” as a way to express excitement for some reason.
You also can't ignore the people who know about this unwritten rule but choose not to follow it. As far as I know, there's no “official” rule saying that you can't bump overly frequently, and I've never heard of anyone receiving an alert for doing so (I could be wrong on this one).
Also,
bumps sure are cool right“. I honestly think it would be better to have a mandatory forum tutorial for new users that explains certain conventions and etiquette.

Ah, okay, didn't see that. I'm assuming you want it to check the number of periods in the post? That could still be problematic if you want to make a short post about bumping, or if you're in the habit of leaving the periods off the ends of your posts I already added prevention of that.

But what if your making a constructive post without punctuation? I don't usually add periods-Ah, okay, didn't see that. I'm assuming you want it to check the number of periods in the post?
