Scratch Team, PLEASE READ
Hi Scratch Team and all other Scratchers. I'd like to share a story and suggestion with you. Recently, I was making a new account. I'd gone to my mom and asked. She said yes at first until we came to a certain part of the registration. My mom and I were disappointed in the fact that we had to include the place I lived in, my birthday, and my gender. Though your birthday and your gender is not shared and you don't have to put what gender you are, my mom was still worried about my safety, which led to me to not making an account. I agreed with her, but was still very disappointed I did not get to make a new account. So Scratch Team, if you could, please add an option to not share you birthday and the place you live in while making an account. If you do make this change, please notify me. Thank you Scratch Team and Scratchers, and have a nice day.
EDIT: I didn't make this account myself. I actually got it from a coding class, so that's why I had no clue I had to put in my gender and birthday. And I was very disappointed when I discovered I had to do so.

I didn't know that, but why do they need to know STATISTICS about us that we would rather not share? And I honestly don't want to be dishonest either. These are only used for statistics. If you want to, just put in fake stuff.

almost every website you have to make an account for asks you this question. So they can know how to better cater to the needs of the scratch community. Plus, why are you not comfortable in saying your country? It's not really like someone will know your exact location because of your country unless you tell them. But if what is shown to us by Scratch is all the same, and if we can all view the same projects, why do they need to get an “image” of who is using Scratch? They're trying to get a general image of who uses Scratch.I didn't know that, but why do they need to know STATISTICS about us that we would rather not share? Almost every website also asks for your DOB to help keep you safe, if you ever want to use the internet you're going to need to get used to it, not to be rude or anything.
And your email is so if you forget your password you can get it back.

You can just put a random country if you like, or Antarctica, when you put your country, it isn't really going to put in a lot of danger, because it just narrows it to thousands (if not millions) of people. For your birthday, it is for the statistics so that they can say how many Scratchers your age exist, and it isn't your full birthday, it's just year and month, and millions of people may have that day as there birthday. As for your gender, people knowing that won't really put you in danger, and they don't even know hat gender you sign up as, and you can just not say.
There is also a hack for Location, that will make it say location not given (idk how to do it though)
In conclusion, there is no need to worry, this info won't put you in any severe danger, but if you still feel any worry or unsureness, you can use contact us, to contact the Scratch Team and let them know about your concern

They need Statistics because ummmmmmm… inside reasons and wouldn't some people like to know how many Scratcher's their age there areI didn't know that, but why do they need to know STATISTICS about us that we would rather not share? Not all people would be unsure about sharing their location, age and gender

Well for location, we can know where they are, so that we can have a ruff estimate of what time it is for them, to know when best to talk to them. But if what is shown to us by Scratch is all the same, and if we can all view the same projects, why do they need to get an “image” of who is using Scratch? They're trying to get a general image of who uses Scratch.I didn't know that, but why do they need to know STATISTICS about us that we would rather not share? Your DOB is used purely for statistics, nobody can see it, and you can put ‘prefer not to say’ for gender, and a fake location like Antarctica. That reveals absolutely no personal information and isn't necessarily being dishonest as most people will guess you don't actually live in that location. If you're still worried about being dishonest to the community, you can always clarify on your profile that you don't actually live in the location and that you put it there so as to not give away your actual location. Well, my mom was more worried about the birthday and gender, but there is this other coding site I have (called Kano) that never required any DOB or any other personal information.
