But that doesn’t happen. And spamming tags do do things. It counts each tag more than once, kicking it up higher.

But now that it's literally the norm to just add dozens of unrelated tags to every project, the ST isn't removing those projects. Even the ones that are at the top of trending and should be noticeable.
Obviously it's an unmanageable task to deal with the hundreds of reports of this type, so why not make people decide for themself what categories their project is most relevant to. Three tags should be enough to highlight the most important parts of a project.
