Customizable permission settings for studio curators and managers

Although this never happened to me, this is getting out of hand. I really think the scratch team should do something about it. Imagine, you had a studio with over 10000+ projects and then, one day its gone. I bet all of you would be sad curators and managers. That is seriously wrong. Hopefully, together we can stop this now.
I tried the same thing.I asked a creator of scratch, but they just said don't make a studio like that this is what happened to me!My studio was supposed to be something about 100,000 managers, but she changed it to 1 hundred million monkeys by 2021, she also said for everybody to leave and unfollow and she kept on putting hate comments and she deleted the whole description!

Hi there, please don't “rant” on your past experiences with studios. This doesn't relate that much to the topic.

Semi-Support.

While this would be quite nice, especially since there's people out there that just love destroying studios, I feel that it isn't the most necessary as that's why there's the Curator and Manager positions. I personally believe that you should promote people to manager only if you trust them to some extent.
(Trust me, I've learned that the hard way. )

On the other hand, it would be nice to give people the ability to invite others, but not let them do anything else, or only let certain people have the ability to edit the description.

This is a good idea. I have a studio in which someone kept on adding unrelated projects, so I had to delete them. However I think this topic is a duplicate. I would give a link, bu I am on mobile.
Before I posted this, I searched all over the suggestions for one like it, trying “studio,” “permissions,” “settings,” “customize,” “owner,” “manager,” curator," and several other key-words that don't come to mind right now, in various combinations. There's nothing like it in the directory, or in the rejecteds, and I never found it using my searches. I can't believe nobody's suggested this before now! I've submitted one of those form thingies to have it added to the directory.
Hmmmm….

That's exactly what this aims to do.

Well, you shouldn't do comebacks, you should just tell a grown-up. If you respond, that only gives them more fuel. Try to be gracious about it. They want you to get upset. (Sorry I didn't repsond sooner, I just saw that since it was the last comment on the first page)

BIG support. Even if it is a bit complex (especially for a kids' site), it will make sure malicious and (honestly) stupid people don't go off and destroy studios.

Customizable Roles in Studios

Alright, so you all know how when you create or join a studio, there are two roles: curator and manager. This is all nice and such, but what if there could be more? What if a studio owner could create new roles besides curator and manager? Now that sounds pretty cool!

Here's a rundown: Let's say that you own a shop, and want an official studio for it. Right now, you'd probably have all of your “Leader” people as managers, and “Worker” people as curators. It makes sense and all, but it could totally be improved for organization and such. So, now imagine this: In your shop, there are the roles President, Vice President, Board of Directors, Staff Member and Staff Helper. In your studio, you could remove the Curator/Manager roles, and add in these roles exact! How cool would that be? Let's say it is the SDS; you could have two roles, one as SDS Curator and one as SDS Helper. Perhaps you have a fan club (we'll use my name for instance) - I could create a role for myself named 54329, have a role for people I trust named something like Club Organizer and then a role for the fans called Fans! The possibilities are endless!

You may be thinking, “does it all have to be based on levels of ‘power’?” Well, it doesn't! Perhaps if you have a “crew” of some sort, you could create the roles Artist, Animator, Voice Actor, Coder, etc, and though some would show higher than another, they'd all be equal.

Also, to prevent someone from simply making 100 spam roles and making the studio page really buggy and such, there would be a 10 role creation limit per each studio. Thanks -Accio- for this idea.

Okay, so you like the idea so far, you've created a new role just for fun, but what can it do? What permissions does it have? This is where this suggestion sorta relates to the other one linked above - customizable permissions (this one is just more focused on roles, whereas that one has to do with abilities, and is directed against people trolling in add everyone studios). Though this idea could totally work with the permissions listed in the other topic, I thought I'd create a similar list of my own. This would include:
~ Add Projects
~ Invite Members
~ Edit Description
~ Edit Thumbnail
~ Edit Title
~ Remove Other People's Projects
~ Remove Members*
~ Change Members' Roles (As per new feature - instead of promote, it is simply updating roles)*
~ Enable/Disable Comments
~ Enable/Disable Allowing Everyone To Add Projects
~ Create and Edit Roles (Sorta like a Co-Owner permission, full access)*
*Only for users with a role below their own.
Note: Everyone has the un-removable ability to view everything (as currently installed), remove their own projects/projects they added, remove themselves from the studio and post comments (unless it is overall disabled, meaning nobody can post).

Alrighty people, recap time! In this suggestion, we:
~ Allow studio creators to make customizable roles
~ Add in customizable permissions
~ Just make studios better and easier to manage!

UPDATE: I'm working on making mock-ups. I don't have it all done yet, but here are some to get started:

What users with both the Remove Members and Change Members' Roles permissions see when hovering over a user with lower role's “box.”

What users with only the Remove Members permission see when hovering over a user with lower role's “box.”

What users with only the Change Members' Roles permission see when hovering over a user with lower role's “box.”

A list of all studio tabs, now including one titled “Settings.”

The URL of the studio settings page.

How the “Members” page would look with some different role examples. (Ignore the fact that I forgot to include the “Settings” tab in this one, please)

The “Settings” page would look for users with the Create & Edit Roles permission (editable).

The “Settings” page would look for users without the Create & Edit Roles permission (view only).

Member tab for a user with full permissions (showing how the owner looks different from others). I set all buttons to show for demonstration purposes, but they would hide as normal unless the mouse is hovering over a user box. (Ignore the fact that it says “Curators” and there is no “Settings” tab.)

An example of the Activity feed with some of the newer permissions involved.

Mock-ups made in inspect element (HTML5).

Support. This can be used for collab reasons and allows more trust. It might end up about people bragging but that will be extremely rare due to the fact it doesn’t happen in collab forums. It can also give a shine (or laugh) to important people. For example, I am a founder of a group. My studio role can be ‘Founder Council 1’ or ‘NuclearHypeYT’ or ‘Nukey Boi’.

This is a nice way for it to be organised. However, I suggest that there is a limit (maybe 10), so that there aren't a whole bunch of roles in one studio.

I like this idea. Having too many roles could lead to the studio page being cluttered. I think 10-15 would be a fair amount. Edited!

Eeesh… what's it take to get a suggestion noticed? No admins, moderators, or devs have even LOOKED at it… I worked hard on this suggestion…

Generally, the Scratch Team doesn't post on suggestions unless they are closing duplicates, rejecting suggestions, closing/removing spam posts or accepting suggestions (at least that I've ever seen).

Support! There's a similar setup with roles and permissions in Discord and it's so useful for organization.
Especially if you make a studio that grows popular, but then you move to another account. In the current Scratch setup, even if you make your new account manager, you still can't do vital things like closing comments. With this setup with custom roles, you can set your new account to a role of maybe “owner” or “co-owner” and give your new account the permissions to do anything with your studio.

However, I think a maximum of 15 roles is too high. Maybe set the limit to just 10?
